Longtime The Young and the Restless star Bryton James has hit a roadblock in his romantic life. The actor and his wife, Jahaira James, are getting a divorce.

Who is Bryton James’ ex-wife?
Bryton filed for divorce from Jahaira, a Los Angeles-based pro dancer, on October 13, according to documents obtained by TMZ. He cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. Bryton and Jahaira married in March 2025 but separated just a few months later in June.
The actor asked to terminate the court’s ability to award either of them spousal support. He also requested that his ex-wife restore her former name — Myers — once everything is finalized.
Just a month before they separated, Bryton raved about Jahaira, who was a dancer on Beyoncé‘s Cowboy Carter tour. “What you’re looking at is the culmination of a lifetime of work, discipline, dedication, strength, bravery, and belief that my love ©jahshonye continues to exude. Her journey is what inspiration wants to be when it grows up. And I am beyond proud to be a witness to her art as we share this life together,” he captioned a series of Instagram photos of Myers performing on tour.
Myers responded to James’ post in the comments, “Sharing this life and this stage with you is the greatest gift. Thank you for seeing me the way you do.”
It’s unclear when James and Myers started dating, but they went Instagram official on February 11. James shared two adorable selfies with Myers and wrote, “My Everything.”
Myers is originally from North Carolina. Prior to joining Beyoncé’s tour, she worked for the Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group for three years in Las Vegas.
What happened between Bryton James and Brytni Sarpy?
Bryton was previously in a relationship with his Young and the Restless costar Brytni Sarpy, who plays Elena Dawson. Devon and Elena were once romantic love interests, and that eventually translated to real life. Bryton and Brytni began dating in 2019.
“I’ve never had a better scene partner. He’s so deserving and I think he’s going to take it,” Brytni gushed to Daytime Confidential about James ahead of the 2021 Daytime Emmys.
The actors never confirmed when they split up, but Brytni left Y&R in 2023. She briefly reprised her role for four episodes in 2024.
How many times has Bryton James been married?
Before his relationship with Brytni, the Daytime Emmy winner was married to Ashley Leisinger. They wed in 2011. Their ceremony was officiated by Young and the Restless star Christian LeBlanc.
The couple split in 2014. On Maurice Benard‘s State of Mind podcast in 2021, James revealed that he met Leisinger when he was 17 years old, and they spent most of their 20s together. While looking back, he acknowledged that having “the experience of truly being your own person, living on your own, having every thought only attached to yourself… I think is extremely valuable for every young person. And I didn’t have that before I got married.”
At the time, James said he didn’t believe he “would get married again because I have different ideas about the institution of marriage. I’m not against it, but I just don’t think I would do it.”

No, Bryton James does not have children. In his State of Mind interview, the 39-year-old admitted that he’s “always kind of known that I didn’t want to have children.” He added, “I just know that it’s not for me. I want to put my energy into other things.”
When the host brought up that James could change his mind, the Y&R star responded, “I don’t believe it will.”
