Who Is ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Star Demi Engemann’s Husband? Meet Bret

Demi Engemann’s relationship with husband Bret Engemann has been in the public eye since her debut on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives in 2024. Now, the couple is returning to reality television on Season 2, which will debut all of its episodes on Thursday, May 15.
The Engemanns were recently embroiled in a bit of a scandal after her appearance on Vanderpump Villa, where she caught the eye of Marciano Brunette, who didn’t hide his flirtatious behavior towards her.
So, where do Demi and Bret stand now? Scroll down for more about him, their marriage, and more.
What does Bret Engemann do?
Bret is the managing partner at Armstrong Consulting Group, according to his LinkedIn. He previously worked as the director of sales and business development at Gigg (suite of tech tools designed to drive meaningful engagement) from May 2021 to November 2022. Prior to that, he worked at MXI Corp. for 16 years where he “[marketed] unprocessed coco and acai berry health products.”
Bret attended Brigham Young University and was the quarterback of the football team. He was signed by the Oakland Raiders for two years in 2003 to 2005.
How did Demi Engemann meet her husband?
Long before Demi and Bret met, and despite the fact that he was 16 years older than her, she already knew who he was because of his status in their town as the BYU quarterback. Plus, they had a connection through a family friend, although they don’t recall ever meeting at the mutual’s home, even though they both spent time there.
After harboring an “innocent” crush on Bret as a child (he was married to his first wife at the time), Demi received a follow on Instagram from her now-husband when she was 18. However, she was dating her ex-husband, Blake Corbin, at the time, and had heard “quite the interesting rumors going around” about Bret, so she “wrote him off as a bad boy.”
Bret wound up getting married and divorced a second time and re-entered Demi’s orbit when Corbin began running into him at the gym. “They talked business,” Demi explained. “I think at this time, I had maybe talked to Bret one time at the gym with Blake.”

As she and Corbin were privately dealing with issues in their marriage, they ran into Bret again, and she asked him about how things were going in his love life. When he said he was single, she and Corbin suggested that he sign up for The Bachelorette, and although he scoffed at the idea, they anonymously nominated him that night. Bret ended up getting called for Clare Crawley‘s season of the show, and he eventually agreed, but was sent home shortly after filming began due to COVID-19.
Corbin ended up moving out of the home he shared with Demi, and when she saw that Bret was active on Instagram, she reached out and asked what happened with The Bachelorette. He explained the COVID situation and asked about Corbin, at which point Demi admitted they were divorcing and that he’d moved out.
Demi and Bret ended up meeting up and felt an “instant connection,” but she wasn’t ready to jump into anything right away, so they waited about two months before going on their first official date. Things got complicated when photos of the outing leaked on TMZ, as Bret hadn’t told The Bachelorette producers that he wouldn’t be returning to film. Plus, Demi hadn’t told everyone in her life about her divorce, so people in their small town were asking if she had an affair.

The drama eventually “fizzled out,” but the pressure was too much for Demi, so she told Bret she wanted to date other people while she healed from everything that had been going on. They did that for a few months, while also still seeing each other, before making the relationship official in September 2020.
In March 2021, Bret proposed, and he and Demi tied the knot just days later on April 3.
How many times has Bret Engemann been married?
Bret has been married three times. He tied the knot twice before marrying Demi.
His first wife was Angie Harrington, who you may recognize from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. The two met in college and divorced long before Harrington’s reality television career began.
“I had a very public divorce in Utah Valley,” Harrington once told The Salt Lake Tribune. “And my ex-husband was kind of the golden boy of Provo. So that prepared me for reality television.”
Less is known about Bret’s second marriage, but Demi revealed that it took place “six years” after his divorce from Harrington. “That one lasts about five or six months [and] they get divorced,” she shared. “After my husband divorced his second wife, it was more like an annulment, and he was just single for a while.”
Do Demi Engemann and her husband have children?
While Demi and Bret don’t have any children together, they are a proud blended family. He shares sons Rome and Cole with Angie, while she has a daughter, Maude, with Corbin.

Are Demi Engemann and Bret still together?
Yes, she confirmed that they were still together in May 2025, despite the Vanderpump Villa drama involving Marciano. Demi accused Marciano of “manipulative” flirtation and called him out for perpetuating rumors that something happened between them.
“A lot of the women [on my show] and now Marciano jump on the train of taking things out of context,” she explained to Us Weekly. “To me, it’s completely a clout tactic in my mind of trying to ride the clout and ride the wave of the success of the show and confuse people.”
She also insisted, “Nothing happened with Marciano. At the expense of sounding rude, there wasn’t even a remote attraction to him. It sucks that women can’t be kind and friendly and even playful with men in this world without it being taken as, like, you’re open. I had a rock on my finger the entire time I was there. I brought up my marriage multiple times and they were told that we were married women — so it sucks that we couldn’t just go and have a good time and that he couldn’t respect that.”
Demi reiterated that she and Bret are “solid” and said he’s been “nothing but supportive and nothing but understanding” amid the ordeal.
