Bridgerton stars Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton are revealing exciting Season 4 production updates amid their recent BAFTA nomination for Most Memorable Moment — their famous carriage ride set to the tune of Pitbull’s “Give Me Everything” made the cut.

As fans know by now, Coughlan and Newton play onscreen couple Penelope and Colin Bridgerton, affectionately known as Polin by viewers. They played Season 3’s leads but will pass the torch to Luke Thompson‘s Benedict Bridgerton and Yerin Ha‘s Sophie Baek for Season 4.

While the duo may not have won big at the BAFTAs, they did offer breadcrumbs about Season 4’s progress during different interviews tied to the ceremony. “We’re nearly at the end of filming Season 4,” Newton told The Gentleman’s Journal. Although he was promoting a moment from Season 3, he added, “People aren’t asking the same questions as they asked on the press tour, so you can never really be prepared, which I do find some comfort in. People are now focused on what’s next and the future of the show.”

Meanwhile, Coughlan offered an interesting tidbit about the show’s lengthier production for this latest chapter. “We’re shooting it still,” Coughlan told a correspondent on the BAFTA red carpet. “It takes a long time to shoot a season of Bridgerton. It takes about eight months, this one’s taking nine. So, it’s a full pregnancy, this season on Bridgerton,” Coughlan joked, as she noted the lengthy production.

“We got new leads this year, Luke Thompson, who we’re used to, and Yerin Ha, who’s new and gorgeous. It’s sort of a Cinderella story…” Coughlan continued.

As viewers will recall, Season 3’s romance was a friends-to-lovers trope as Penelope’s unrequited love for best friend Colin ultimately turned into something more after he initially tried to help her find a match on the marriage mart. And as Coughlan put it, above, Season 4’s love story has a Cinderella component as Benedict falls for the masked Lady in Silver, unaware that the woman behind the disguise isn’t part of his social circle.

Considering the show’s lengthier production, it’s unclear when Bridgerton Season 4 will arrive, but Coughlan and Newton’s insights definitely give fans plenty to consider.
