While politics have always had a place on Love Is Blind, it is incredibly rare for someone to state who they voted for directly. At least, that was until Ashley Carpenter’s dad, or Daddy Dum-Dum, as he called himself, came into the picture during Season 10.
Ashley Carpenter is a claims manager who will be the first to admit that she’s loyal “to a fault.” In the pods, Ashley fell in love with former soccer player Alex Henderson, who eventually proposed. During Love Is Blind Episode 7, Alex finally met Ashley’s tight-knit family. From chatting politics to Alex’s day-trading prowess, the dinner had many fans talking online.

Who is Ashley Carpenter’s dad?
Ashley’s dad is Paul Carpenter, a.k.a Daddy Dum-Dum. While we don’t know much about Paul’s career, he told Alex and Ashley, “I did divorce work for 41 years, and I have told almost all of my clients the same thing: Never, ever call them a name they will remember for the rest of their lives. It’s that simple.”
It’s clear that he’s also a proud “patriarch,” as Ashley also told viewers, “Tonight, Alex is meeting my family. I’m a little nervous. My dad is the protector. He’s the provider. He will do what it takes to, you know, fight for his family.” Paul absolutely grilled Alex during their dinner, concluding, “I’m not saying [Alex] is a bad person, but I don’t think honesty is his strength.”
Who else is part of Ashley Carpenter’s family?
Alex met her mother, Jackie, and her brother, Pete. It appears that Paul, Jackie, and Pete are all inactive on social media, so we don’t know much about the family.
However, Alex did give Netflix an inside look at his conversation with the trio. He shared, “That was a wild conversation for me. In my past, I’ve obviously met my girlfriend’s parents. They’ve always been, ‘Hey, welcome to the family!’ while still obviously a bit reticent or hesitant. They wanted to see who I was as a person and give me that opportunity to show that. This one, I didn’t feel like it was there. There were a number of moments that felt potentially premeditated against me.”
What did Ashley Carpenter’s dad say about Trump?
Ashley’s dad, Paul, made it clear that he is a proud Trump supporter. After asking Alex, “What’s the price of Bitcoin today?” Paul blatantly asked Alex, “Did you vote for Trump?” Since Alex was living in New Zealand during the last presidential election, he revealed that he did not vote. However, he would have voted for Trump. He explained, “I’m absolutely conservative, though, without a doubt. I’m happy he won.”
