Aubrey Anderson-Emmons is celebrating Pride Month and opening up about her sexuality. In a June 16 video that she posted to social media, the Modern Family actress, who played Lily Tucker-Pritchett on the ABC sitcom, told the world she’s bisexual.

“People keep joking so much abt me being gay when I literally am (I’m bi),” she wrote over the top of her video. She added the caption, “Happy pride month to all and to all a goodnight hehehe #modernfamily #lily #pridemonth #bi #pride.”

Anderson-Emmons included Modern Family in her coming out video. She used audio from a Season 4 scene where Lily’s aunt, Gloria (Sofia Vergara), tells Lily that she’s Vietnamese. Lily responds, “No, I’m not. I’m gay, I’m gay!” Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson), one of Lily’s dads, responds, “Honey, no, you’re not gay. You are just confused!”

Fans applauded Anderson-Emmons in the comments section of her post. “Omgggg cam and mitch would be so happy,” one fan wrote. Another commented, “Like fathers like daughter.” One fan added, “Omg she’s ACTUALLY gay i call it full circle.”

The actress was just four years old when she was cast as young Lily on Modern Family. Like many of her younger costars, Anderson-Emmons grew up on the Emmy-winning comedy over the course of its run.

Since Modern Family’s series finale in 2020, Anderson-Emmons has focused on high school and her music career. The 18-year-old dropped her first song, “Telephones and Traffic” in May. She’ll be releasing her second song, “Don’t Forget Me,” on June 27.

At one point, a Modern Family spinoff focusing on Mitchell, Lily, and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) moving to Missouri was in the works. ABC ultimately rejected the spinoff idea. However, Anderson-Emmons has been candid about being open to reprising the role of Lily in a spinoff in the future.

“I’d definitely be interested if the script was good and the dads were on board, but school is my priority right now unless something great comes along,” she told Daily Mail. “I feel like the finale left possibilities and I think that’s why people are always talking about a spinoff of the Tucker-Pritchett family.”
