‘Bridgerton’: Jonathan Bailey Teases Benedict & Sophie’s Wedding in Season 4

Bridgerton Season 4 is still a ways off — it’s coming out in 2026! — but Jonathan Bailey just teased a major plot point.
The actor may have wrapped filming on the next installment of the Netflix regency drama, but looking further ahead to future seasons, he has no plans to step out of Anthony Bridgerton’s shoes. “I know how much I love long-running series,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. The streaming service has already greenlit Bridgerton through Season 6. “I know how important familiarity of character and story and consistency is in these long-running series.”
While that’s good news, and we’re eager to see more of Anthony and Simone Ashley’s Kate, we immediately perked up at Bailey’s mention of Season 4, which follows his character’s brother Benedict (Luke Thompson). In Cinderella-esque story, he falls in love with maid Sophie (Yerin Ha).
“I was filming a wedding on a Monday morning,” Bailey revealed before cutting himself off. “People know that people get married in Bridgerton — that’s not a spoiler, right?”
Indeed, since Bridgerton‘s first three seasons saw its main characters married off, Bailey’s comment doesn’t come as much of a surprise — but he didn’t name names either. Those who have read Julia Quinn’s An Offer from a Gentleman know exactly whose wedding Bailey is referring to. (Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for An Offer from a Gentleman.)
We count ourselves among that number, and we can’t wait to see said wedding come to life. There’s only one couple that marries during the events of the book: Benedict and Sophie. Assuming Season 4 follows its source material, the characters’ happy union doesn’t come about easily.
Benedict has a much higher station than Sophie, who’s a servant and the illegitimate daughter of an earl. He first tries to persuade her to become his mistress, but ultimately gets over his fear of scandal and decides to propose. Before he can pop the question, Sophie’s evil stepmother (Katie Leung) has her arrested (long story). Benedict swoops in to save her by proclaiming Sophie as his fiancée (which to be clear, she’s on board with). Days later, they wed.
Dearest gentle reader, are you just as excited as we are to watch Benedict and Sophie tie the knot in Season 4? Let us know in the comments below!
