‘The Royals’ Romance Rundown: Who Do Liam, Eleanor & More End Up With?

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for all seasons of The Royals.]
Remember (and miss) when E! had scripted TV shows? Same. The Royals, which aired on the network from 2015 to 2018, has made its way to Netflix. The series, revolving around a fictional British royal family, had everything — royal family drama, shocking twists, and epic romances.
For those of us who consumed all four seasons of The Royals and lived through the highs and lows of Jaspenor, this is an excuse to rewatch the series we love. For those of you who haven’t watched the show just yet (or are currently binge-watching), Swooon has a full guide to the show’s relationships. Did Liam find true love? Did Jasper and Eleanor end up together? Scroll down for a refresher on the romances in The Royals.
Who does Liam end up with on The Royals?
Liam (William Moseley) ends the series with Kathryn Davis (Christina Wolfe). The Royals introduces Kathryn in Season 3. She’s a bartender who used to date Robert (Max Brown), Liam’s older brother. She starts seeing Liam after they reconnect. When Robert returns after being presumed dead, Liam and Kathryn’s relationship is turned upside down.
They break things off, and Kathryn starts dating Robert again. Robert eventually reveals to Kathryn that he’s always known about her relationship with Liam and cruelly breaks things off. Liam and Kathryn get back together, and she discovers she’s pregnant. Her fate is left in jeopardy in the series finale when she’s kidnapped during the royal wedding.
What happened to Ophelia on The Royals?
Liam had many romances throughout the four seasons of The Royals, and his love story with Ophelia Pryce (Merritt Patterson) was a fan favorite. Liam and Ophelia fall in love during the first season of the show. There’s a forbidden romance aspect to their relationship—Liam is a royal, while Ophelia is the daughter of the family’s head of security, Ted Pryce (Oliver Milburn), the man we later learn killed King Simon (Vincent Regan).

Ophelia leaves England to pursue a dancing opportunity in New York City, which is set in motion by Liam’s former flame, Gemma (Sophie Colquhoun). Liam flies to the Big Apple to try and win her back in Season 2, but she’s already dating someone else: Nick Roane (Tom Ainsley). Liam and Ophelia have an emotional goodbye, and they seemingly never see each other again.
Who does Eleanor end up with on The Royals?
The power of Jaspenor! Eleanor (Alexandra Park) and Jasper’s (Tom Austen) romance had us all in a chokehold from Episode 1. The princess and the bodyguard had the ultimate enemies-to-lovers (but also still enemies while lovers) romance.
Eleanor and Jasper’s relationship doesn’t have the easiest start. After sleeping together, Jasper blackmails Eleanor by threatening to release their sex tape (which is non-existent). As they continue to play games with each other, Jasper and Eleanor fall in love.

Their slow-burn relationship has to endure plenty of hurdles, including a stolen love letter, before they officially get together in Season 4. Jasper nearly dies after getting shot in the chest, which puts everything into perspective for Eleanor. In the series finale, Jasper and Eleanor share a romantic dance in the church before Robert’s royal wedding, and Jasper essentially proposes to Eleanor. He promises to be by her side “until the end of time.”
Fun fact: Park met her real-life husband, One Tree Hill‘s James Lafferty, on the set of The Royals. Lafferty directed several episodes of the show during its four-season run.
Who does Robert end up with on The Royals?
For the first two seasons of The Royals, Robert was presumed dead. When he returns in Season 3, he sets out to claim his place on the throne. He’s also determined to find a bride to make his queen.
He reconciles with Kathryn briefly, but it’s all a ruse. In the final season, Robert establishes a connection with Willow (Genevieve Gaunt), Liam’s friend and the royal family’s social media consultant. Willow has unrequited feelings for Liam, who falls in love with Robert’s former girlfriend.
Robert and Willow’s romance gets underway, and he ultimately proposes. Their relationship is far from drama-free, especially leading up to the royal wedding. Eleanor runs to Willow after she finds out that Robert caused the blackout and reveals Liam plans to dethrone him. At first, Willow is Team Robert and recites his declaration of love to Eleanor, who realizes those are the words she wrote to Jasper in a love letter that was stolen.
Willow confronts Robert about planning the blackout, which leads to his confession. Willow threatens to call off the wedding, but Robert begs her not to (after initially going into defense mode). After their intense conversation, Willow tells Helena (Elizabeth Hurley) she can’t marry Robert.

Willow is brought in on the plan to stage a coup at the royal wedding. Willow tells Liam, Eleanor, Helena, Jasper, and Cyrus (Jake Maskall) that she will expose Robert at the royal wedding. However, in a shocking series finale twist, Willow doesn’t reveal the truth about Robert at the wedding. She marries him anyway!
The show was canceled after Season 4, so fans never got to see whether or not Willow had a bigger plan or chose to side with Robert in the end.
Who does Helena end up with on The Royals?
At the start of the series, Helena is married to King Simon, who dies at the end of Season 1. She has a longtime affair with Alistair Lacey (Noah Huntley), a man she’s known since before she became queen. Her most notable post-King Simon romance is with Spencer (Jules Knight), her Lord Chamberlain. When Robert discovers their relationship in Season 4, he fires Spencer without telling Helena. Robert claims he got rid of Spencer because he was shopping a tell-all about his relationship with Helena.
Who does Cyrus end up with on The Royals?
Cyrus, King Simon’s younger brother, was previously married to Veruca Pomperwell. They have twin daughters, Princess Maribel and Princess Penelope. He had a sexual relationship with Prudence (Poppy Colette Corby-Tuech), one of the maids, and she eventually gave birth to their son. Prudence and the child, with the help of Helena, disappear.
Cyrus falls in love with Violet (Keeley Hazell), another maid in the palace. However, the Grand Duchess (Joan Collins) fakes Violet’s death, which leaves him devastated. However, in the series finale, Cyrus spots Violet at the royal wedding and runs after her. They share a sweet reunion in the show’s final moments, but it’s unclear if they got back together.
