Are HGTV’s Jonathan Scott & Zooey Deschanel Still Together?
Property Brothers star Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel shocked fans when they went public as a couple in September 2019. Their first PDA-filled outing together came right after she confirmed that she had separated from Jacob Pechenik.

Yes, Scott and Deschanel are still together. In April, Deschanel paid tribute to her man with an Instagram post in honor of his birthday. “Happy birthday to the person who makes each day a joy to live,” she gushed. “Jonathan- you are practically perfect in every way.”
Even more recently, Scott reminisced about his and Deschanel’s follow-up Carpool Karaoke episode, during which they revisited the day they first met. “Flashback to our second time on @carpoolkaraoke,” the HGTV star wrote. “There’s no one I’d rather ride horses with, drink milkshakes and rob banks with!”
Are Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel married?
No, Scott and Deschanel are not married, but they are engaged! Scott proposed to the New Girl star during a trip to Scotland in August 2023, about four years after they first started dating. “Forever starts now!!! 🥰♾️🥰,” they captioned a joint Instagram post at the time.
A year after the proposal, the couple still hadn’t made any wedding plans. Scott told Access Hollywood that he and his bride-to-be know they want an “intimate” affair, but “literally haven’t had time to just stop and think” about planning it.
In January 2025, there was still no progress. “We’ve just had a lot of things going on. Maybe that’ll be my New Year’s resolution — we’ve got to get this wedding figured out,” Scott told People.
Do Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel have kids?
No, Scott and Deschanel don’t have children together, but she has two kids (a daughter born in 2015 and a son born in 2017) from her marriage to Pechenik.
In a 2023 interview, Scott revealed that Deschanel’s kids call him “my Jonathan,” explaining, “Whenever they tell a story they say, ‘There’s daddy, there’s mommy, and he’s my Jonathan.'”

However, he admitted it was a struggle to get the kids to warm up to him early on. “The kids didn’t necessarily run up and jump in my arms and give me a big hug,” he shared. “I also remember several times where they’d be out with other kids and someone would say, ‘Oh your daddy’s so funny,’ and they’d be like, ‘That’s not my daddy, he’s my Jonathan.’ That would hurt a little bit.”
The couple has not spoken about whether they plan to have children of their own.
How many times has Zooey Deschanel been married?
Deschanel has been married twice in the past. When she ties the knot with Scott, it will be her third marriage.
Her first wedding was to singer Ben Gibbard, whom she wed in September 2009 and separated from in November 2011. Deschanel filed for divorce the following month, and it was finalized one year later.
In June 2015, Deschanel married Pechenik just one month before giving birth to their daughter. They separated in January 2019, months before he filed for divorce and the news was made public that September.
