‘Too Much’ Ending Explained: Do Jessica & Felix End Up Together?

Meg Stalter and Will Sharpe as Jessica and Felix in 'Too Much'

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Too Much Season 1.]

If you ask us, Lena Dunham actually might be the voice of our generation. We already believed it after watching Girls, and now that we’ve binged the entirety of her new Netflix show, Too Much, it seems like even less of a stretch.

Hacks‘ Megan Stalter leads the rom-com as Jessica, a 30-something coming out of a years-long relationship. After a messy breakup and a (warranted) crashout of epic proportions, the New Yorker decides she needs a fresh start. Jess takes a new job across the pond, and on her first day in London, she connects with an indie musician named Felix (Will Sharpe).

From there, Jessica and Felix jump into things headfirst. Even though they have their fair share of issues, they keep coming back to each other, because when things are good between them, it’s good. But does Too Much live up to its claim of being a rom-com and deliver a happy ending? Do Jess and Felix wind up staying together? Keep reading and find out.

Did Jessica and Felix end up together on Too Much?

The goings were tough for a minute there, but we’re happy to report that the couple remains together at the end of the series. After mending fences with the woman her ex moved on with — who at this point has also broken up with said ex — Jess realizes she’s already found the perfect person for her. Jess thinks her relationship with Felix is beyond repair, especially after he cheated on her, but she decides it’s worth fighting for in the end.

Jess finds Felix at an environmental protest in the middle of a highway. Before the cops arrest her, she makes a hilarious and heartfelt love confession. As she’s being taken to the police car, Felix spontaneously asks Jess if she wants to get married. Flash forward a bit, and the final episode ends on a high note, showing a montage of the newlyweds and their family members outside a courthouse.

How does the ending compare to Lena Dunham’s real life?

Though the show’s not completely based on her life, Dunham has been open about using her own experiences to inform Too Much‘s story.

Like Jessica, Dunham moved from New York to London, where she found her musician husband, Luis Felber. So, you could definitely say that the ending is imitating real life.
