‘ZOMBIES’ Stars Milo Manheim & Meg Donnelly Reminisce Over All of Zeddison’s ‘Someday’ Versions (VIDEO)

If you’re a ZOMBIES fan, then you know all about “Someday.” The super sweet ballad from the first ZOMBIES movie is the defining song of the entire ZOMBIES universe. Zed (Milo Manheim) and Addison’s (Meg Donnelly) duet happens as they start seeing each other in secret and yearn to be out in the open about their feelings someday.

The impact of “Someday” can’t be understated. The official clip of the romantic duet from the first movie has been viewed over 200 million times on YouTube since ZOMBIES premiered in 2018. In all four movies, there has been a version of “Someday,” the song’s message of love and inclusivity remaining timeless. In an interview with Swooon, Milo Manheim and Meg Donnelly looked back at all versions of the beloved tune.

“For me, ‘Someday’ was the one thing, while we were shooting it, I was like, ‘Oh, this is really special, and this is really cool and magical,'” Manheim said about the original version. Donnelly added, “I have vivid memories of filming ‘Someday,’ and that being so special. But then the next day on set, everyone was still talking about it. I know we knew it was special, but everyone saying that, I didn’t want to believe it because I didn’t want to get my hopes up either. But it felt really magical.”

In ZOMBIES 2, there’s a “Someday” reprise between Zed and Addison as they dance together at Prawn. Manheim admitted that the inclusion of “Someday” in the sequel was likely “the beginning of my producer brain starting because I definitely had an opinion about that.” (Manheim and Donnelly also served as producers of ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires.)

ZOMBIES 3 expands the power of “Someday” and turns it into a group song. Manheim revealed the ZOMBIES 3 version of “Someday” was “really emotional” for everyone. For the actor, these versions of “Someday” are “always are like anchors for everything we’ve done.”

The third version was filmed on the last day of production, and Donnelly thought ZOMBIES 3 was going to be the final film in the franchise. “I was mourning, grieving, thinking about all the movies what we had, saying goodbye to it,” she revealed.

In the the latest ZOMBIES movie, there’s a brief “Someday” version between Zed and Addison during an intense moment. At the end of the film, the final scene between Zed and Addison feels reminiscent of very first “Someday” — the tap dancing! — as the two dance on a hill together.

“That was such a a grand moment and also one that we just shared together quietly that day,” Manheim recalled. “The clouds literally parted for us to be able to shoot that.” He said it was “quite possibly the best day of shooting I’ve ever had, just the most memorable.”

Donnelly noted, “I feel like when that moment comes up, it’s just still, and you can hear the light tapping of our feet and us breathing. It’s so intimate. It’s really cool to have that breath in the movie. And then just for Zed and Addison to have a moment like that, ’cause I feel like there’s been moments like that for sure, but I feel like since ‘Someday,’ like you were saying, there hasn’t been like an intimate moment between Zed and Addison.”
