‘The Things We Left Unfinished’ Movie: All About the Rebecca Yarros Adaptation That’s Not ‘Fourth Wing’
Everything’s coming up romance in Hollywood. A Rebecca Yarros romance is officially coming to theaters, but it isn’t Fourth Wing.
On July 16, Deadline announced that Yarros’ historical romance The Things We Left Unfinished has been optioned by Lionsgate, the studio that’s bringing The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping to theaters next November.
According to the official announcement, Arash Amel, who wrote A Private War and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, has been tapped as the screenwriter, while Todd Lieberman of Hidden Pictures and Yarros have joined as producer and executive producer, respectively.

What is Rebecca Yarros’ The Things We Left Unfinished about?
While Rebecca Yarros is known for her epic romantasy, Fourth Wing, her 2021 novel The Things We Left Unfinished takes place in a dragon-free world. The story follows 28-year-old Georgia Stanton, who is starting fresh after a brutal divorce. As she returns home to her late great-grandmother’s house in Colorado, she meets Noah Harrison, a romance author who wants to finish her great-grandmother’s manuscript.
Together, Georgia and Noah uncover her great-grandmother Scarlett’s WWII love letters and learn that the real reason she couldn’t finish the story was because it was based on her own life.
When will The Things We Left Unfinished be released?
There is currently no release date set for The Things We Left Unfinished. According to the official press release, the film is in pre-production as it has just been optioned for the big screen. However, with Lionsgate attached, we have faith that Georgia and Noah’s love story will come to life within the next few years. Yarros’ Fourth Wing adaptation is currently in the works at Prime Video.

On the day of the adaptation announcement, Yarros stated, “I am so thrilled to work with this incredible team at Lionsgate and Hidden Pictures to adapt The Things We Leave Unfinished for the big screen!” She added, “This is my favorite book that I’ve written, and it’s a very special story to me, so I couldn’t be more excited to see it come to life in Arash Amel’s capable hands.”
