Ben Stiller’s Daughter Appears on ‘And Just Like That’ & Her ‘SATC’ Connection May Surprise You
Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Steve Brady (David Eigenberg) are about to be grandparents! The July 31 episode of And Just Like That featured the baby bombshell that Miranda and Steve’s son, Brady (Niall Cunningham), got a woman he had hooked up with pregnant.
In her quest to find out more about the mother of her grandchild, Miranda showed up at a salon to meet the mysterious Mia, played by Ella Stiller, the daughter of Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor. In a fun twist, Ella’s connection to Sex and the City extends far beyond And Just Like That. She’s related to an important character in Miranda and Steve’s lives.
Ella is the granddaughter of Anne Meara, who played Steve’s mother, Mary Brady, in Sex and the City. Anne is the mother of Ella’s father, Ben. Anne was married to Ben’s father, Jerry Stiller, for over 60 years, until her death in 2015.
In Sex and the City’s final season, Steve’s mother is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. The follow-up 2008 movie reveals that Mary is in a nursing home.
In a full circle moment, Ella’s And Just Like That character is a part of the Brady-Hobbes family forever now. She’s the mother of Mary Brady’s great-grandchild! At the end of Episode 10, it’s unclear how much of a role Brady will have in Mia’s life once she has the baby. Mia and Miranda’s salon encounter didn’t end well — she soaked Miranda with her shampoo bowl hose.
However, we will see Mia again. In March 2025, Ella’s mom appeared on Kristin Davis‘ Are You a Charlotte? podcast, and Kristin had nothing but praise for Ella.
“Let me tell you, we’re in a scene together where literally every person shows up and Ella was just such a trooper,” Kristin said. “I’m not going to share any details. I don’t want to give anything away. But we really had fun and she’s just so funny and interesting.” Ella and Kristin have yet to share a scene together, so Ella will be popping up again!
