“#ToddlerFreeTuesday Since becoming Mom & Dad, we promised to still be Shea & Terry,” Shea shared. “Even if it’s just a quick lunch or a stroll downtown. Every Tuesday, while Beau James is at his Nanny Pod, we carve out a little time to reconnect, laugh, flirt, and be us!”
Shea also wrote a touching tribute to her husband in honor of Father’s Day 2025: “Happy Father’s Day to the one who makes fatherhood look effortless, joyful, and full of heart. Watching you with Beau James has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. You lead with patience, love, gentleness, and kindness in everything you do. Not just as a father, but as a husband and a man.”
Does Shea Hicks-Whitfield have kids?
Shea and Terry welcomed their first child, a son named Beau, in July 2022. They revealed on Instagram that he was a “rainbow baby,” meaning that he was conceived after a miscarriage.

“We loved you before we knew you,” Shea gushed. “Even when there was just a hope for you, we loved you.”
When Beau was just three days old, he had a biopsy done after doctors noticed what appeared to be a scratch on his skin from right after he was born. As an infant, he was diagnosed with a rare cancer, Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LHC). In January 2024, Shea confirmed via Instagram, “Beau BEAT Cancer.”
In 2025, Shea celebrated Beau’s third birthday with an Instagram post, writing, “SWIPE—> Happy 3rd birthday to my RainBEAU baby, my Sonshine, my JOY. ☀️🌈 You light up every room with your bright eyes, beautiful smile, and those sweet dance moves! From sports to music to cars, your curiosity and love for learning blows me away. You’re funny, kind, intelligent, and so FULL of Life… our little entertainer and teacher all in one.”
Where does Shea Hicks-Whitfield live?
Shea and her family live in Detroit. Of her decision to raise a family in the Michigan city, Shea told Metro Parent, “There’s a lot of young families in the city of Detroit. … I love the vibe of Detroit as a mom. I just think that it is so fun and there are places that are really great. The cultural offerings are great.”
