You never forget certain monumental onscreen kisses. There’s Allie and Noah’s rain kiss in The Notebook. There’s Jack and Rose’s first kiss in Titanic. Well, Providence Falls just gave us one of Hallmark’s most romantic scenes in the network’s history.

In Part 2, Cora (Katie Stevens) goes to confront Magnus on her own, and a chase ensues on his property. Magnus hunts her down on the dock, and Cora tries to defend herself with an oar. After a scuffle, Magnus hits Cora with the oar, sending her into the water. Thankfully, Liam (Lachlan Quarmby) and Finn (Evan Roderick) have arrived just in time.

As the swoonworthy track “Unsteady” by X Ambassadors plays in the background, Liam jumps right into the water to save Cora, mirroring a moment between them back in 1844. Like he’s straight out of a romance novel — technically, he is — a soaking wet Liam carries Cora out of the water. (We love a romantic hero moment!)

“I thought I lost you again,” Liam says when Cora wakes up. That’s when they finally share a forbidden kiss, one that the angels will not be happy about. Stevens and Quarmby opened up to Swooon about shooting this pivotal scene between Cora and Liam.

“It’s one that you really look forward to, for sure. It’s like, oh, that’s a cool thing that’s going to be fun to shoot,” Quarmby said. “And then you remember that you’re filming in Vancouver in February, it’s a lake, and it’s a night shoot, so you’ve got to get in that water, and it’s going to be cold.”

Stevens recalled, “My body was like shutting down. I was, like, uncontrollably shivering. But we had wetsuits. We had the protective gear. This one [pointing to Quarmby] didn’t want to wear a wetsuit.” She admitted that she was “blacked out because I was so cold. So I was just like looking at Lachy being like, I’m really trying not to shiver.”

The Bold Type star acknowledged how crucial it was to get this romantic scene right. “You know the moments that are that moment, so [we were] wanting to do that justice,” she told Swooon. “And it felt special when we were filming it, and it was intense and stunts and all of that. It’s one of my favorite scenes.”

Quarmby noted, “It paid off.” Cora and Liam’s passionate kiss is witnessed by Finn, who literally stops in his tracks as he’s fighting Magnus when he sees what’s going down. “I do feel bad for Finn in that moment,” Quarmby said.
