What To Know

  • Prime Video is adapting Carley Fortune’s bestselling romance novel Every Summer After into a series titled Every Year After.
  • Every Year After production currently underway, with Prime Video sharing behind-the-scenes looks in December 2025.
  • Swooon has the latest updates on the release date, cast, and more.

Prime Video isn’t slowing down when it comes to romance book adaptations. After the success of The Summer I Turned Pretty and the upcoming Off Campus adaptation, there’s also another bestselling romance novel headed to the streamer: Carley Fortune’s Every Summer After.

Fortune published Every Summer After in 2022, and it quickly became a massive hit. She recently published One Golden Summer, which centers around an essential character in Every Summer After. The Prime Video adaptation will feature a significant change: the title. The series will be called Every Year After instead of Every Summer After.

“The thinking behind that was that Every Summer After was like too confining as a season for a series, and Every Year After allowed them to open this up to a broader story,” Fortune explained the reasoning behind the name change to Swooon.

In July 2025, Prime Video revealed that Every Year After had found its main cast and kicked off production, and months later, the show created an official Instagram account to share behind-the-scenes looks, which you can find below. Around the same time, fans got an update about how many episodes the series is getting. Keep reading for all the latest details about the Every Year After adaptation.

What is Every Year After about?

Every Year After will chronicle the events of Every Summer After. We’re not going to spoil the entire book for you, but Every Summer After is told over the course of six summers and one weekend. Persephone “Percy” Fraser made the biggest mistake of her life a decade ago, and she hasn’t been back to Barry’s Bay since.

When she gets a call that the mother of her first love, Sam Florek, has died, she returns to Barry’s Bay to pay her respects. When Percy sees Sam again, the dormant feelings between them resurface. This bittersweet reunion forces Percy and Sam to figure out exactly why their relationship fell apart and whether or not it can be pieced back together.

There are plenty of swoonworthy moments in Every Summer After, but there’s one particular moment that Fortune is set on keeping in the adaptation. “With Every Summer After, for me, that is, ‘You came home.’ When Sam says, ‘You came home,’ that is so, so important,” Fortune told Swooon.

Per the post-production coordinator’s LinkedIn, which eagle-eyed fans spotted, the series will consist of eight hour-long episodes. As for when they’ll arrive on Prime Video, production appears to still be underway, but we have more information below.

Who has been cast in Every Year After?

The main cast members of Every Year After have been officially confirmed. Sadie Soverall, best known for playing Beatrix in Netflix’s Fate: The Winx Saga, has been cast as Percy. “I am so proud and honoured to be telling this story and of the family of incredibly talented people working on this- all my love xxx,” Soverall captioned an Instagram post after the announcement.

Aurora Perrineau, famous for her roles in Prodigal Son and Kaos, has been cast as Chantal. Fate: The Winx Saga alum Abigail Cowen will play Delilah, and Motorheads star Joseph Chiu will play Jordie.

“I couldn’t be more excited about this fabulous cast!” Fortune told Deadline. “This is an enormously talented group of actors, whose auditions made me laugh, swoon, and cry. I know they’ll have fans of Every Summer After falling in love with their favorite characters all over again.”

Amy B. Harris, who notably produced Sex and the City, will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Additional executive producers include Fortune, Lindsey Liberatore, Amy Rardin, John Stephens, and Grace Gilroy. Julie Rottenberg and Elisa Zuritsky serve as writers and consulting producers.

When is Every Year After coming out?

Every Year After is now in production, with filming set to last several months. Prime Video hasn’t announced an official premiere date yet, but it will likely be in 2026. (A summer premiere date sounds perfect to us.) In the meantime, check out the video of the cast on set:

Will Every Year After adapt One Golden Summer?

Prime Video hasn’t confirmed whether or not One Golden Summer, which follows Charlie’s love story, will be adapted. Every Year After could incorporate One Golden Summer into a season of the show or give Charlie his own spinoff. “I mean, I would love to see Alice and Nan on the screen,” Fortune told Swooon.
