‘The Challenge’ Couple Leroy Garrett & Kam Williams Reveal Why They Married in Secret

After more than six years and two children together, Kam Williams and Leroy Garrett have taken a big step in their relationship. The Challenge couple tied the knot on August 5 in Detroit, Michigan.
The only people in attendance at the nuptials were the pairs children, 3-year-old Kingston and 1-year-old Aria. After keeping the news a secret for a couple of weeks, they opened up about why they chose to elope instead of having a big party.
“We have been engaged for a while, and honestly we were just ready to get married already,” Williams explained to People. “Why wait even longer planning a huge, elaborate wedding?” Garrett popped the question in 2022 before Williams gave birth to the couple’s first child.
“We knew an elopement style was for us,” Williams confirmed. “I didn’t want to be stressed. At first, we considered Chicago because we love the city and it’s such a fun mini-getaway from Michigan. But with two kids, staying in-state was way easier and less stressful logistically.”
Williams wore a strapless white mini dress for the occasion, while Garrett was handsome in a black tux. The wedding date was already a special day for the couple, as it was the six-year anniversary of when they made their relationship official. They met two years earlier on The Challenge: Vendettas.
In January, Garrett opened up to Swooon about why it was taking him and his now-wife so long to make it down the aisle. “We are kind of going back and forth on whether we want to do a big wedding or a small wedding,” he explained. “I want to go to a courthouse and just have a wedding, and she wants to have this big grand wedding. But we’ve got two kids. Neither one of us is going anywhere.”
However, Williams clarified in the People interview that she’s “never been the huge, dream-wedding type,” adding, “I envisioned something stress-free, no heavy planning, simple, and perfectly us. In a few years, I’d love a small, intimate vow renewal with our closest family and friends. But this moment, our elopement, was just for us, and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.”
Garrett is currently competing on Season 41 of The Challenge.
