‘Tell Me Lies’ Star Grace Van Patten Reveals Rare Details About Jackson White Relationship
Grace Van Patten and Jackson White aren’t hiding their relationship, but they also keep most details about their offscreen love close to the vest. The actors play characters in a toxic romance in Hulu’s Tell Me Lies and are also dating IRL.
Of course, White is nothing like the emotionally abusive, manipulative, and controlling character he plays on the show, and in rare comments about her partner, Van Patten opened up about what it’s like to work with him when he has to act that way.
“He’s a little too good at it, isn’t he?” Van Patten joked in an interview with Elle. “I’m like, ‘Where does that come from?'”
However, she also said, “It’s the best part about all of this. Because playing a role like this, and doing these types of scenes, you have to really go there. They’re emotional and intimate. To do that with someone you trust so much, it just makes it a whole other experience, as opposed to doing it with someone you don’t know on that level. With us, there’s no block. It’s just full taking each other in because that’s what we’re used to.”
The show is currently in production on its third season. It premiered in 2022, and Season 2 came out in the fall of 2024.
Van Patten was cast in the show before her now-boyfriend, but they started dating before he was even confirmed for the role. “We didn’t know what was going to be more complicated, if he did get the part or if he didn’t,” Van Patten admitted. “But we didn’t care. We just couldn’t help it.”
A premiere date for Season 3 has not been confirmed, but Van Patten has plenty to keep her busy. She’ll be portraying Amanda Knox in the upcoming Hulu series The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, which premieres on Wednesday, August 20. White has a role in the film Swiped, which is coming out later this year as well.
