‘The Survival List’: Everything We Know About Blake Lively’s New Rom-Com
Legal drama isn’t keeping Blake Lively from going back to work.
For her first theatrical release since It Ends With Us — which put her in an ongoing lawsuit battle with the film’s director, Justin Baldoni — Lively will wear producing and acting hats once again. But unlike the Colleen Hoover adaptation, the Gossip Girl alum’s latest project isn’t a rom-dram: The Survival List is a lighthearted rom-com from the studio that made Lively’s Another Simple Favor movies.

When is The Survival List coming out?
There’s no premiere date yet! But there’s a good chance the movie won’t come out until late 2026, at the earliest. Filming doesn’t appear to have started yet.
Who is in the The Survival List cast?
So far, all we know is that Lively is the leading lady. Her character’s love interest hasn’t been revealed yet.
Who is making The Survival List?
Veteran movie and Broadway producer Marc Platt is working with Lionsgate VP Scott O’Brien on The Survival List. Platt’s best known for producing the stage and movie adaptations of Wicked, and recently, he helmed the live action How to Train Your Dragon movie.
The rom-com will be developed from a spec script by Tom Melia. He penned another feature film in the same genre called Rye Lane . After it premiered at Sundance 2023, it received an overwhelmingly positive response from critics. (You can stream it right now on Hulu!)
What is The Survival List about?
Described as an “action romantic comedy,” the movie centers on highbrow reality TV producer Annie, played by Lively. Much to her dismay, Annie is assigned to a show hosted by a famous survival expert named Chopper Lane. They wind up stranded on a deserted island after their ship wrecks, which leads to Annie finding out that Chopper is a fraud. As they work together to stay alive, chemistry sparks between them.
