CBS News Reporter Freaks Out Over Travis Kelce & Taylor Swift Engagement During Live Hit

CBS News reporter Olivia Rinaldi was just about to appear on-air when she received the exciting news that rocked the world on Tuesday, August 26: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged. Cameras were rolling to record Rinaldi’s in-the-moment reaction to the news.

“Taylor Swift is engaged, Taylor Swift is engaged,” she said after checking her phone. “Come back to me. She just posted it. Oh my God. Oh my God.”

She then pulled up the now-viral Instagram post of Swift and Kelce announcing their engagement and noted, “Oh, it’s huge. The ring is ginormous! This is so exciting. Oh my God. It’s on her Instagram.” After composing herself a bit, she joked, “I feel like Paul Revere right now.”

Moments later, Rinaldi, who works as a White House reporter, got to go live and break the news to CBS News viewers. “This is a very exciting moment in my professional career because I get to announce that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged,” she said, adding that her producer was the one to text her with the news. She later noted that she would “volunteer” to cover the wedding if her duties were needed.

The journalist shared the clip of her freakout on her Instagram Story and explained, “I was on standby when @gabrielleake texted me the world’s biggest news.”
