The Summer I Turned Pretty‘s latest episode, “Last Kiss,” saw Belly’s (Lola Tung) plans take a complete left turn as her wedding to Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) fell through, mostly because of her undying love for his brother, Conrad (Christopher Briney).
Playing out similarly to the events depicted in showrunner Jenny Han‘s novel, We’ll Always Have Summer, the third installment of her Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy, Belly and Jeremiah go their separate ways, but post-non-wedding, her actions deviate from the book in the way that she bolts for the airport, likely eager to put distance between herself and the drama. The catch? When Belly arrives at the airport, she books a ticket for Paris and spots a familiar face as she’s about to board.
Conrad is sitting in the terminal, seemingly waiting for his return trip to California after ditching the wedding, unaware that it did not go through. In the episode’s final moments, Belly takes a step in Conrad’s direction before the credits roll, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.
So, what’s going to happen next? The show is going off-book at this point, which means almost anything is possible. Below, we’re breaking down a few theories regarding what comes next after that airport cliffhanger.
Belly gets on the plane

While Belly seemingly steps toward Conrad in the episode’s final moments, it may be a misdirect, as whatever conversation the pair has to have will definitely take longer than Belly’s boarding time. After the uncertainty around whether Belly would ever go to Paris, it would feel like a setback to go against the decision she had made to get away from it all.
Belly misses the plane
Similar to the first theory, this would involve Belly taking time to speak with Conrad and address their situation, missing her plane in the process, but eventually continuing on her way with a later flight. This would make room for the complicated dynamic between the pair to get somewhat sorted before they part ways. But only time will tell.
Belly changes her destination
What if… and we’re just spitballing here. What if Belly changes her destination to California, taking a leap of faith by spending genuine time with Conrad, unmarred by the doom of her looming wedding and relationship with Jeremiah? While we feel confident Belly will make it to Paris before the season is through, perhaps she’ll go somewhere else first. It’s just a theory, and one we’re not opposed to.
Belly and Conrad will make a pact
Picking up a romance with a man right after you ended an engagement with his brother does feel inappropriate, and after a four-year romance with Jeremiah, Belly certainly needs some time to herself. But maybe, if Belly and Conrad talk through their feelings for one another, they’ll make a pact to revisit the romance neither of them could let go of when they’ve finished the things they want to accomplish on the road to adulthood, ranging from her study abroad plans to Conrad’s medical school career.
Belly and Conrad kiss goodbye
Okay, maybe a far-fetched theory, but maybe Belly boards her plane, but not before testing out her lingering feelings for Conrad by giving him a farewell kiss. While this seems like the least likely possibility, we aren’t ruling out anything. With three more episodes remaining this season, the drama has to continue, and what’s more dramatic than a goodbye kiss?
