Joan Vassos wrote a special tribute to fiancé Chock Chapple in honor of his 62nd birthday on Sunday, September 14. The Golden Bachelorette star shared a series of photos from her past year with Chapple to go with the message.

Although Vassos and Chapple spent a considerable amount of time apart this summer, they’re still going strong, and she proved that with her gushing tribute.

“Happy birthday to my fiancé, friend, go-to phone call during the good and tough times, and my partner in crime that I get to spend the rest of my life with,” Vassos wrote. “Today on his birthday he is really the gift! @chockchapple 🫶.”

Vassos and Chapple got engaged on Season 1 of The Golden Bachelorette and have been in a long-distance relationship ever since (he lives in Kansas, while she’s in Maryland). Since Chapple is still running his business, there are no set plans to move in together just yet, but the couple has been looking for a middle ground place they can share in New York City.

“Going to each other’s homes is fine, but it’s not quite as fun,” Vassos told Swooon over the summer. “We wanted to make our meeting place someplace that we could have a little separate life, maybe away from our families for a while.”

In August, Vassos and Chapple gave an update on their relationship status after fans speculated that they’d secretly gotten married. “And to all those people that thought we got married, we did not,” Vassos said in an Instagram video. “We have not done that yet. You will know when we get married. We’re not going to sneak away and do it, OK? So, you guys will know.”

The Golden Bachelor franchise returns this fall with Season 2 of The Golden Bachelor, which will star former NFL player Mel Owens.
