Why Did Ned Fulmer & Wife Ariel Split? Inside Their Divorce After Try Guys Cheating Scandal

After three years of radio silence, Ned and Ariel Fulmer have returned to the spotlight — but not as a married couple.

After nearly a decade together, The Try Guys (Fulmer, Keith Habersberger, Zach Kornfeld, and Eugene Lee Yang) nearly broke the internet by announcing that Ned was no longer part of their company and would no longer be featured on their YouTube channel. The reason? The former Buzzfeed group’s signature “wife guy” had become involved in an affair with one of their staff members.

Before Ned’s extramarital cheating scandal, Ned’s wife, Ariel, was a staple of The Try Guy’s franchise, having appeared in their videos since their Buzzfeed debut, “Guys Try Ladies’ Underwear for the First Time.” As The Try Guys left Buzzfeed, creating their own company, 2nd Try Entertainment, Ariel became a founding member of the “Try Wives,” the affectionate name given to the Try Guys’ spouses, Ariel, Becky Habersberger, Maggie Bustamante Kornfeld, and Matthew Joseph McLean. As the Try Guys launched their TryPod, the Try Wives’ podcast, You Can Sit With Us, followed close behind.

On September 16, Ned announced that he was finally ready to return to the entertainment space with his new podcast, Rock Bottom. While People confirmed the next day that Ned and Ariel had officially called it quits, followers were shocked to learn that his first guest would be Ariel herself.

In what commenters have called a “YouTuber apology voice,” Fulmer started the podcast, “Three years ago, I cheated on my wife with my producer. It became a massive public scandal, caused a lot of pain to a lot of people. I know that I represented myself as a kind of ‘wife guy’ who talked about his relationship and put that out there for public consumption, and you, as a viewer… I know that I broke your trust. I betrayed my spouse, coworkers, friends, family, and I betrayed you.”

He continued, “And I know it’s not just about cheating, I was a company owner, having a relationship with a producer who was engaged and friends with all of our friends and coworkers. It was, understandably, a messy and devastating situation for everyone involved. And I was the cause of it. I did that. And I can’t change it, I can’t change the past. I can own it and accept it and try to change how I show up differently in the future, and so I wanted to say I’m sorry I hurt you and I hope to make amends over time.”

Why did Ned Fulmer and Ariel split?

Ned and Ariel Fulmer split three years after she found out that he had been cheating on her with an employee of his production company. During the first episode of Rock Bottom, the exes confirmed, “We are still friends, we have children together, we go on trips together, you know? There’s a spectrum of being together and not together. Like, there are ways in which we’re together, but the way everyone wants to know, like ‘Are you guys still an item?'” According to Ned, “We really haven’t been [in a romantic relationship] these past three years,” even though there are moments where they’ve tried. “Just because you go to a Taylor Swift concert together does not mean that you’re — that all is forgiven.”

Ariel explained, “People ask me like, ‘Do you forgive Ned for what he did?’ and I mean, the answer is no. Absolutely not, how could you forgive somebody for lying to you, for cheating on you? No, f*** no… Forgiveness isn’t the goal at this point.” She later added, “The fact that I can be around you and still like have a good time, and enjoy spending time with you and spending time with my kids? I think that’s a win.” She also confirmed that they live separately today.

At the time of the scandal, Ned announced that he had been involved in “a consensual workplace relationship” and was leaving the company to focus his attention on his wife and their kids. In the statement he famously shared, “Family should have always been my priority, but I lost focus.” He continued, “I’m sorry for any pain that my actions may have caused to the guys and the fans, but most of all to Ariel. The only thing that matters right now is my marriage and my children, and that’s where I am going to focus my attention.”

On September 17, 2025, Ned confirmed that while he “cares deeply” for Ariel, they had separated. In the premiere episode of Rock Bottom, both he and Ariel will take the mic to publicly discuss their relationship for the first time since he left The Try Guys. During the podcast, Ariel stated “the whole reason that we’re here” is that they have moved on “for a while now,” but “as far as everyone else is concerned, we are still stuck in 2022.”

Who did Ned Fulmer cheat on Ariel with?

Ned cheated on his wife, Ariel, with Alexandria Herring, an associate producer at 2nd Try. She had a well-known video presence on their channel as one of the “Food Babies” alongside YB Chang. Together, the Alexandria and YB created mukbang-style videos with the leftovers from Keith Habersberger’s popular franchise “Eat the Menu.”

Ned and Alexandria’s affair came to light during Labor Day weekend in 2022, after fans saw them “engaging in public romantic behavior” at a Harry Styles concert. The duo was later spotted kissing at a restaurant in New York City. While Alexandria was never mentioned by name in official statements, fans were quick to recognize the “Food Baby.”

Ariel revealed on September 17, 2025, “I found out about your affair from the fans, and I was so blindsided. Somebody sent me a picture and I — I, like I couldn’t, it was like my brain couldn’t compute. And I  — I, it’s like for some reason I couldn’t see what was there in the picture. I thought it was your sister.” She recalled, “I remember sending it to [Ned] and being like, ‘What is your sister doing in New York?’ And think back on that, and I think like, What was I? How did I not see what was going on? What was so f***ed up in my brain that I couldn’t see what was going on in this picture?”

How did Ned Fulmer and Ariel meet?

Of course, Try Guys fans are intimately familiar with Ned and Ariel’s adorable love story, which began in 2009 when the two had just graduated from college. Both Ned and Ariel had recently moved to Chicago and crossed paths at a party. During an early episode of You Can Sit With Us, a podcast hosted by the “Try Wives,” Becky Habersberger, Maggie Bustamante Kornfeld, and Matthew Joseph McLean, Ariel recalled, “Ned describes the whole situation as, like, he saw me when he first walked into the party, and there was nobody else.”

During Ned’s podcast, Ariel reflected on the early days of their relationship, telling Ned, “We grew up together. We got married when we were like in our early 20s. We were babies. We had nothing. I mean, we moved out to LA with just our car full of stuff. I mean, I’m like tearing up just thinking about it. We were just kids, and it’s like — it really was a fantasy.”

Do Ned Fulmer and Ariel have kids?

Ned and Ariel share two kids, Wes and Finn, who are now seven and almost five. Ned, Ariel, Wes, and Finn all traveled to Greece during summer vacation this year. Though they are separated, Ned claims he and Ariel have built a new “foundation of trust” when it comes to coparenting their kids. Going forward, Ned and Ariel are hoping to keep their family life private.

Who is Ned Fulmer dating now?

Currently, it appears that Ned is single. However, according to TMZ, the ex-Try Guys member was spotted on September 7 flirting with a mystery woman at a bar. “According to a witness, NF was chatting with this woman — who is not his wife — for ‘a really long time’ … though, there was no noticeable PDA. The eyewitness said it seemed as though Fulmer was at the L.A. venue specifically with the woman in question,” the outlet reported. Ariel has revealed that she is open to dating.
