Tyrique Hyde: All About the ‘Love Island Games’ Season 2 Breakout, His Ex & More
Love Island Games Season 2 has just started, but Tyrique Hyde already has fans talking.
The reality star, who appeared in Love Island UK before returning to the franchise’s spinoff competition, set the tone right off the bat. In a conversation with the other boys about their gameplay strategies, he said, “I’m better at mind games over physical,” he said in Episode 1.
“So you like trivia puzzles and sh*t?” another Islander asked. “More like manipulating people,” Tyrique answered. “I’m leaning more toward the money side over love side, though, but I’m open to both.”

Who is Tyrique with on Love Island Games?
The Islander coupled up with Andreina Santos-Marte originally. However, the Love Island USA Season 7 alum lost a duel with Lucinda Strafford in Episode 2. As a result, Tyrique is now paired with Lucinda, a fellow Love Island UK star.
Which Love Island UK season was Tyrique on?
Tyrique entered the spotlight on Love Island UK Season 10, which aired in 2023. He was one of the original contestants, and on the first day, the public paired him up with Scottish model Ella Thomas, who Tyrique had forgotten that he’d met before the show.
Though the couple wound up in third place, their partnership wasn’t exactly smooth sailing, according to Radio Times. Tyrique was interested in some of the new girls that entered the villa, and Ella brought a guy back from Casa Amor. They found their way back to each other, though, and were still together when they left the show.
Why did Tyrique and Ella break up after Love Island UK?
The couple split a few months after they left the villa. Ella opened up about their split: “Things were really good when we came out of Love Island; things just changed,” she said on the Saving Grace podcast. “I am the type of person that I know how I want to be treated… I was his first girlfriend and being someone’s first girlfriend — it’s not a joke. It’s not easy, it’s hard. It is what it is.”
Tyrique briefly touched on his past relationship and the fallout in his Love Island Games introduction. “It felt like love,” the 26-year-old said, adding that after their breakup “a lot of people had a lot of opinions. [Which was] kind of hard to deal with.”
What does Tyrique do for a living?
Tyrique started playing semi-professional soccer in 2019, which ought to come in handy for the Love Island Games challenges. His latest team was Lewes FC. He signed with them in 2022 but left his soccer career behind when he joined the reality franchise.
Where is Tyrique from?
You probably guessed from his accent that Tyrique hails from England. He’s a native of Essex, which is just outside of London.
