‘The Couple Next Door’ Exclusive Preview: Mia Toys With Jacob After Their Affair (VIDEO)
The patients aren’t the only ones dealing with complications in The Couple Next Door Season 2. In Swooon’s exclusive preview of the October 3 episode, Jacob (Sam Palladio) and Mia (Aggy K. Adams) share a moment at the hospital after their illicit affair.
Mia stumbles upon Jacob in one of the empty hospital rooms, and she quickly spots the pill bottle in front of him. She grabs it and realizes it’s ADHD medication, something she didn’t know about him. Jacob says it’s an “old med school habit,” but he needs it to concentrate today.
Mia goads him into giving her pills so she can make it through the day, and she tries to be playful with him about it. Jacob is clearly uncomfortable.
“Well, today’s going to be fun,” she says. “Not as much fun as last night, but then, what is?” Before Mia can leave the room, Jacob stops her. “Mia, about that. It was totally out of character. I don’t cheat on my wife,” he stresses.
Mia doesn’t hesitate to reply, “But you did.” She adds, “It’s alright. It can be our little secret. Just like this.” The pills are yet another thing Mia can hold over Jacob’s head.
In the October 3 episode, a guilt-ridden Jacob plans a surprise weekend trip to Antwerp for Charlotte (Annabel Scholey) in honor of their 20th anniversary. When an unexpected third person turns up, things take an erotic, but dangerous, turn. Back in town, cul-de-sac outcast Alan (Hugh Dennis) is forced to put his telescope back into action.
The second season of the psychological drama premiered on September 19 and returned to the cul-de-sac where secrets run rampant. This time around, brilliant heart surgeon Charlotte and her husband, consultant anesthetist Jacob, take center stage, alongside their mysterious new colleague, Mia, and Charlotte’s old flame, Leo (Sendhil Ramamurthy). Leo’s return sparks a change in Charlotte, and Mia seizes the opportunity to work her way into Jacob and Charlotte’s confidence, their street and, eventually, even their bed, befriending cul-de-sac outcast Alan along the way.
However, Mia’s past will come back to haunt her, which will cause Charlotte and Jacob to question who she really is, especially when patients at the hospital start mysteriously dying.
