Are Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck Back Together? Their Red Carpet Reunion Explained
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck shocked fans when they posed together on the red carpet at the New York premiere of her new film, Kiss of the Spider Woman, on Monday, October 6.

Are Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck back together?
No, Lopez and Affleck are not back together. However, he is an executive producer on the film. He became involved with the project before he and Lopez separated in April 2022.
“If it wasn’t for Ben, the movie wouldn’t have gotten made,” Lopez recently said on an episode of the Today show. “And I will always give him that credit.”

Meanwhile, Affleck had nothing but praise for his ex-wife’s performance in the film. “This is a role that Jennifer is just so spectacular in. It’s a role she’s dreamed of playing her whole career,” he told Access Hollywood. “It’s hard to imagine she hasn’t had some opportunities, but that’s actually true. She kind of seized this thing with both hands and did something spectacular and beautiful.”
Why did Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck split?
Lopez cited irreconcilable differences as her reason for filing for divorce. It has been widely reported that the pair’s different feelings about fame and life in the spotlight contributed to their split.
However, in an interview with British GQ, Affleck made it clear that this wasn’t the only reason the marriage ended. “I think it’s important to say that wasn’t the cause of some major fracture,” he shared, specifically referencing J.Lo’s 2024 documentary that lifted the curtain back on her private life, including her relationship with the actor.
“My temperament is to be a little bit more reserved and private than hers,” Affleck explained. “As happens in relationships, you don’t always have the same attitude towards these things. And so I thought, ‘Oh, this is interesting because how do you reconcile that?'”
He also insisted, “There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue. There is no, ‘This is what happened.'”
Affleck and Lopez were previously together from 2002 to 2004. They were engaged at the time, but called off their wedding just days before their planned September 2023 nuptials, and then ended the relationship four months later. The exes reconciled in 2021 following J.Lo’s split from Alex Rodriguez.
