All About ‘Halloweentown II’ Stars Kimberly J. Brown & Daniel Kountz’s Real-Life Romance

Halloweentown forever! The magic of the movies brought Kimberly J. Brown and Daniel Kountz together, and now they’re returning to TV as a couple in Hallmark’s new movie Haul Out the Halloween. They play a married couple that moves onto Evergreen Lane. Marvin and Luna scream all things Halloween, which makes the Christmas-loving cul-de-sac embrace Halloween in a way they never have before.
“We could have never imagined that this holiday and the work would not only bring us together, but continue to be something that enriches our lives so much,” Brown told Swooon. How did Kimberly J. Brown and Daniel Kountz meet?
The couple met on the set of Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge, the Disney Channel Original Movie that was released in 2001. Brown reprised her Halloweentown role as Marnie Piper, and Kountz joined the sequel as Kal, Kalabar’s revengeful son. However, their romance didn’t start there!
How long have Kimberly J. Brown and Daniel Kountz been together?
Brown and Kountz reconnected in 2016, 15 years after meeting on the set of Halloweentown II. They teamed up for a Halloweentown-themed project for Brown’s YouTube channel and met up at a bar after. They quickly started dating after that.
“I know it took me by surprise,” Kountz told E! News. “I hadn’t seen her in years and I’m waiting, I’m sitting at the bar waiting and she comes walking in and I was like, ‘Well hello there, it’s been a while, hi!’ So it was pretty much just right away I was like, damn girl.”

He added, “If it wasn’t for the movie we never would have met each other and reconnected later and we wouldn’t be sitting here now and she’s a pretty awesome lady. It just ended up working out really well.”
Brown pointed out that it was great to “reconnect and kind of reintroduce ourselves to each other in a way. It’s like, ‘I know you but I don’t know you know you, so let’s talk about life and stuff. Let’s figure each other out.'”
The couple got engaged on June 26, 2022, the anniversary of when they became boyfriend and girlfriend. Kountz popped the question at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, the place where they had their first date.
Are Kimberly J. Brown and Daniel Kountz married?
Brown and Kountz got married on April 19, 2024, in Camarillo, California. Their Haul Out the Halloween costar Lacey Chabert, a longtime friend of Brown’s, served as a bridesmaid.
“He always holds space for me, no matter what. That kind of unconditional love and caring still astounds me,” Brown gushed about her husband to People. “He is my favorite person to sit on the couch with at the end of the day and just chat about things. We just genuinely love spending time together.”
Kountz praised his wife’s “determination” and how “when she has an idea, she acts on it and does it and takes care of it. She’s like a force of nature, I’ll say that.”
Let’s hope Brown and Kountz’s Haul Out the Halloween characters and longtime residents of Evergreen Lane. Maybe this will inspired a Halloweentown revival after all these years!
