In conversation with relationship expert Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Jalyn discussed her close relationship with her family, including her former baseball player dad, Jesse Garcia. “So, it was a lot of on-the-go life,” she explained as a couple of childhood photos appeared on the screen. She added, “My parents were high school sweethearts, but they were never in love… It’s also shown me everything I don’t want.”
While we’ve started getting to know her mom, Belynda, on the show, fewer details have been provided about Jalyn’s dad. However, he was there to walk his daughter down the aisle. Some research revealed that her dad is a former infielder. He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 1993. Jalyn and her twin brother, Jesus, were born three years later. Jesse would go on to join the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres, mostly playing in the minor leagues.

The experts matched Jalyn with Josh Black, a 31-year-old roofing company owner from Austin. “I think it’s very possible that we could last forever,” she said after their first conversation. Josh has been open about the fact that he “came from nothing.” His grandparents raised him after his mother went to prison. Josh’s father only recently learned of his son’s existence.

Things are still looking good for Josh and Jalyn as of Episode 4. During their honeymoon, Josh presented his wife with a wedding ring upgrade, and when Jalyn caught up with the other women in the cast, she touched on her deep feelings for her partner. “I feel like we both know [love is] there,” she said. “We just haven’t expressed it yet. But I think we’re both there.”
Josh told the guys something similar, confirming that he would say “I love you” before the end of the honeymoon. “Looking into her eyes, I can feel it,” he explained. “It’s, like, right there.”
