Mel Owens still has a life-changing choice to make between Cindy Cullers and Peg Munson in the upcoming Season 2 finale of The Golden Bachelor. The finale will air on November 12, and Mel’s journey to find love coming to an end has everyone wondering about the next season of The Golden Bachelorette.
Season 2 hasn’t been formally announced, but Bachelor Nation fans have been tossing around names of potential leads. But what does Mel think? The 66-year-old revealed the name of the woman from his season who would be his #1 choice for The Golden Bachelorette Season 2 star.
“I would vote and recommend Debbie [Siebers],” Mel told Swooon and other media outlets after the Women Tell All special. “She’s sincere and just lovely and in it for the right reasons. And just, man, what a woman. That’d be my vote.”
Understandably, Mel couldn’t throw either of his final two into the mix because the finale hasn’t aired yet. Mel sent Debbie home after her hometown visit, leaving Peg and Cindy as his finalists.

Debbie, who has never been married, revealed she’d definitely “consider” becoming The Golden Bachelorette lead. “I mean, how could I possibly pass up an opportunity like that?” she said. Like Debbie, most of Mel’s contestants would be open to the opportunity to find love again.
The first season of The Golden Bachelorette premiered in September 18 with Joan Vassos, a contestant of Gerry Turner‘s season of The Golden Bachelor, as the lead. She found her special someone in Chock Chapple, and they’re still happily engaged today.
As his Golden Bachelor journey wraps up, Mel reflected on how the show defied his expectations. “I can’t speak about the other seasons, but in my season, it exceeded expectations. I thought the women were great. They treated me well, and we had a wonderful time,” he said.
