The Young and the Restless star Lucas Adams (Noah Newman) and his wife, Shelby Wulfert, are expecting their first child together. “We could not be more excited about this news,” posted Wulfert on Instagram.
The couple’s love story began in 2015 on the set of the Disney series, Liv and Maddie. After seven years of dating, they tied the knot in Waxahachie, Texas, on October 15, 2022. They revealed to People that their bundle of joy will arrive in February 2026.
Just last month, TV Insider caught up with Adams before his first appearance as Noah, where he hinted that starting a family was already on his mind. “Married life is great,” Adams reported. “She’s doing great, we’re doing great. We’re just getting ready to start a family soon, and that’s our next step.”
The Disney alums, who played Josh Wilcox and Maddie 2 on the popular series, got engaged in July 2021 in a romantic sunset proposal while out with their dog, Lando. “We waited for Lando to finish the bowl of water we brought for him, and then I said, ‘Well, Lando needs more water,’ and she said, ‘I’ll go get it,’ which was perfect,” Adams relayed to Soap Opera Digest after he popped the question. “She got up, and I was walking behind her, and she filled his water bowl, and then she was kind of looking off. She said she was kind of having her own moment, seeing the place for the last time, and she turned around, and I was on my knee, and she said with tears in her eyes, ‘Of course I will, baby.'”
Even years later, fans still recognize the couple from their Disney days. “Honestly, all the time,” he shared. “People do kind of flip out seeing us out in the wild, especially when they realize that she was Maddie 2,” he explains. “We were the love interests, technically, at the end of the show, so Josh and Maddie did get their happily ever after, which people say is just cute, and then they do the, ‘Oh, my gosh — y’all actually worked out.'”
Their bond with their Liv and Maddie costars also remains strong. “We’re still best friends with a lot of the cast from that show,” Adams reported. “I was just with Joey [Bragg, who played Joey Rooney]. We actually went to L.A. Comic Con together and the amount of people that came up to us and recognized us from a show 10 years ago, we joked that we should have had a booth there.”
As Adams prepares for fatherhood, he’s also settling into a new family on the Y&R set. “Everybody here is just the sweetest people, and they really feel like a family together,” he said. “So, I think that’s really helpful.”
