Which ‘Bridgerton’ Hunk Has the Best Love Confession? (POLL)

Simon and Daphne in 'Bridgerton' Season 1; Anthony and Kate in 'Bridgerton' Season 2; Colin and Penelope in 'Bridgerton' Season 3; George and Charlotte in 'Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story'

The love confession isn’t easy to pull off. It has to come at just the right time and be infused with the right amount of dramatic flair, in terms of writing and acting. The character doing the confessing has to convey all those pent-up emotions, desperate to make their feelings known. We need to swoon when the buildup finally pays off. If there’s any show that’s mastered it, however, it’s Bridgerton.

Season after season, we’ve got some truly epic speeches from some of the most dashing leading men on TV. (The girls have some of their own, but we’re focusing on the guys in this post.) Regé-Jean Page‘s Simon kicked things off back in Season 1. Simon’s a bit of a tricky case, since he doesn’t outright say “I love you” to Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) in the show. So, we’re going to go ahead and consider the Duke’s speech in front of the queen as his confession. Sure, it’s not a formal declaration of love, but it might as well be with the passion he puts into it.

When Daphne falsely claims it was “love at first sight” to get the queen’s blessing, Simon tells the truth: They actually disliked each other at first. He even goes as far as to reveal that they were initially faking their connection, but “conversation has always been easy. Her laughter brings me joy. To meet a beautiful woman is one thing, but to meet your best friend in the most beautiful of women is something entirely apart. And it is with my sincerest apologies, I must say it took the prince coming along for me to realize I did not want Miss Bridgerton to only be my friend.”

Anthony’s (Jonathan Bailey) admission of his feelings for Kate (Simone Ashley) isn’t a straightforward “I love you” either, but again, it might as well be. Despite being engaged to Kate’s sister, in Season 2, Episode 5, he says, “You are the bane of my existence. And the object of all my desires. Night and day, I dream of you.” After Anthony puts them out of enemies territory, they also share a steamy night together, making the payoff even better.

Anthony is not just in lust, he’s most definitely in love by then — but Kate isn’t fully convinced yet. So, if you want to be a little more literal, Anthony’s speech in the finale is what really does the job. “I have loved you from the moment we raced each other in that park. I’ve loved you at every dance, on every walk, every time we’ve been together, and every time we’ve been apart,” he says desperately, convincing Kate to stay in England. Just as solid as his first speech, if you ask us.

Then comes Season 3, when Colin’s (Luke Newton) declares his feelings for Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) in Episode 4. That carriage scene is iconic for several reasons (IYKYK), but it’s Colin’s admission of his more-than-friendly feelings towards her that makes it so memorable. “These past few weeks have been full of confounding feelings,” he says. “Feelings like a total inability to stop thinking about you. About that kiss. Feelings like dreaming of you when I’m asleep. And in fact, preferring sleep because that is where I might find you.” Wow.

Again, if you want a more literal confession, Colin offers up another just one episode later. It’s short and sweet, leaving nothing up to question: “I will always stand up for you because I love you, Pen.”

The Queen Charlotte spinoff is just as memorable as the others, especially in that it made us cry. Due to his deteriorating mental state, George (Corey Mylchreest) has been trying to keep Charlotte (India Amarteifio) at arm’s length, but she asks George over and over if he loves her, making him acknowledge his feelings. “I love you!” he finally admits. “From the moment I saw you trying to go over the wall, I have loved you desperately. I cannot breathe when you are not near. I love you, Charlotte. My heart calls your name.” It might be the most heartbreaking and the most classic declaration in the Bridgerton universe.
