A woman named Onyeka Ehie, who previously appeared on The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise, has gone viral on TikTok for sharing a 28-part story about how she got scammed by her ex-husband.

Ehie titled her story “The Danish Deception,” and it began when she first met her ex in 2022. She told the entire story of their whirlwind relationship, which started long-distance while she was in Dallas and he was in Denmark.

What happened to Onyeka Ehie on The Bachelor?

Ehie was a contestant on Season 23 of The Bachelor with Colton Underwood. She made it to Week 5 before he eliminated her.

After Underwood came out as gay in 2021, Ehie was one of the first people from his season to publicly show her support. She also appeared on an episode of his Netflix show, Coming Out Colton, later that year.

“People saw that as a lack of connection, and in reality, it was me being intimidated,” Underwood explained, of his decision to eliminate Ehie. “I was scared that if we ended up together, she would call me out on my s**t.”

During their reunion conversation, Ehie said she didn’t know Underwood was gay on the show, but admitted he had a wall up that men she’d previously dated hadn’t. “I think there was a part of me who was more intimidated by you that you would have put me in a corner quicker,” Underwood told her.

After things didn’t work out with Underwood, Ehie went on to appear on Season 6 of Bachelor in Paradise during the summer of 2019. She was in the first group of contestants to arrive on the beach and accepted a rose from John Paul Jones at the first rose ceremony.

However, when it was time for the women to give out the roses in Week 2, Ehie didn’t have a strong enough connection with anyone to warrant her sticking around. She left voluntarily during the rose ceremony after admitting that she’d been “unhappy” during her time on the show to that point.

What is The Danish Deception?

Ehie started spilling her Danish Deception story on TikTok on November 14, revealing how she got scammed by her now-ex-husband, Martin Fredsgaard Andersen. The two met while on vacation in Croatia in 2022. After crossing paths on the beach and exchanging social media handles, they had dinner with their two friends on the last night of Ehie’s trip and kept in touch through Instagram DM afterwards.

After a few weeks of messaging, Andersen invited Ehie on a lavish trip to Monaco, during which he shelled out for expensive hotel rooms and gifts. While in the South of France, Ehie told Andersen she was in love with him.

Throughout the “getting to know each other” period of the relationship, Andersen told Ehie that he had royal family ties, owned several properties, and had competed at the Olympics. Once the relationship had progressed, Andersen told Ehie that he needed $50,000 for repairs to one of his apartment complexes. She offered to lend him the money, and he eventually accepted a $6,000 loan.

While dating long-distance, Andersen and Ehie went on a trip to Paris, which she ended up paying for because he claimed he was having issues transferring his money from a business account to a personal account. He wound up moving from Denmark to Paris, and they got married. At this point, Andersen’s money issues continued, with Ehie continuing to loan him money for “emergencies” at his apartment complexes, taxes, and more.

Although Ehie had started to become concerned, she loaned Andersen $29,000 in just one month. He even convinced her to quit her accounting job under the illusion that he would be able to provide for her. Ehie had started to feel nervous about the “red flags,” especially when Andersen said Danish tax authorities froze his assets. Still, she chose to trust her husband.

While spending Christmas with Andersen’s family, she learned from a friend that he had a gambling addiction, but he assured her he had overcome it years prior. She later caught Andersen on a gambling website and also found out that he owed her friend’s husband $200,000 for a cryptocurrency deal. Ehie hired a private investigator, who uncovered that Andersen never went to the Olympics or lived in the home he said he did.

Since she still wanted to make it work, Ehie urged her ex to attend Gamblers’ Anonymous and start coming up with a plan to pay back the money he owed, but a few months later, she learned he was still gambling. She even found out that he owed thousands of dollars to her mom and younger sisters, as well as friends, cousins, and coworkers.

During a fight about Andersen scamming Ehie’s family members, he ended their relationship, and she learned from his family that he lied about his royal ties and was not honest about the extent of his gambling issues. Andersen also owed his own family members money and was lying about the properties he claimed to own. Oh, and to make matters worse, he was dating and living with another woman for the first four months of his relationship with Ehie, despite telling her he’d broken up with an ex months before they met.

Although Andersen tried to beg Ehie to take him back, she stood her ground and divorced him. The split was just finalized on November 4, 2025.
