Kimora Lee Simmons is back in the spotlight with Kimora: Back in the Fab Lane — and so is the rest of her family. Among them is her daughter Aoki, whom Kimora shares with her ex-husband, disgraced record exec Russell Simmons.
The 23-year-old model recently made headlines when her mom addressed one of her past relationships. Last year, Aoki dated a 65-year-old restaurateur. “Yeah, it was a lot,” Kimora said on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast in December 2025. “But I do think in general, of those kinds of things, I feel like, and having gone through not exactly the same but similar…that big age gap relationship [with Russell], let’s just call it that. I do think it’s predatorial.”

Who was Aoki Lee Simmons’ boyfriend?
After meeting during a St. Barts vacation, Aoki briefly dated Vittorio Assaf. In April 2024, People first broke the news that Aoki was seeing the Serafina Restaurant Group founder and reported that they had split just days later.
“Not only is it ‘over’, it was never a thing,” a source told the outlet. “Aoki is learning to navigate her private life in a public sphere. And that can be difficult. However, Kimora was concerned to see her daughter in that kind of relationship due to what she herself went through.”
Over a year later, their former relationship came up again when Aoki’s mom spoke about the relationship for the first time. On the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Kimora confirmed that her daughter and Assaf’s time together was “this fast,” snapping her fingers. “And it blew up to be so much, so then you can’t be the mom that’s like, ‘What the hell are you doing?’ But that definitely was the thing,” she continued.
“I let my kids make their own mistakes, like I said,” Kimora said. “That’s the whole thing we were saying about living out your life in public, and I think that’s very, very, very tough. I don’t even think that was a moment for them, though. Or I should say the opposite. I think it was just that — a moment. I don’t think it was anything else.”
Kimora also said it went from “0 to 100 really quick,” and she found out when the world did. “So that was what was so shocking. And you can’t say as a mom, and I’ve learned all these crazy things,” she explained. “You can’t give the, ‘I told you so,’ right now. You can’t give the, ‘What the hell are you doing’ right now. You can’t give those things right now.”
The reality star went on to say that she knew Assaf, but not “in that capacity, like with my kid, or that you were even dating my kid.” She added, “I know this guy growing up myself. He’s a restaurateur. I don’t know, I don’t want to get into trouble legally, but I think his reputation probably precedes him. Is that okay to say legally?” she added.
