What To Know

  • Red, White & Royal Blue author Casey McQuiston has shared Alex and Henry’s future after the first book.
  • A sequel movie titled Red, White & Royal Wedding is in development, but McQuiston has yet to write a book sequel.
  • McQuiston revealed if they were considering writing a Red, White & Royal Blue sequel to Swooon.

Red, White & Royal Blue fans know that Alex (Taylor Zakhar Perez) and Henry’s (Nicholas Galitzine) journey is far from over. A sequel movie called Red, White & Royal Wedding is in the works, so we can expect FirstPrince to head down the aisle in the (hopefully near) future. But can the same be said for the book version of the couple?

Casey McQuiston — who wrote the novel that Prime Video’s 2023 hit movie is based on — has yet to write a follow-up in book form, though they did pen the Red, White & Royal Wedding script. A bonus chapter included in the collector’s edition of Red, White & Royal Blue finds Alex and Henry engaged, living in Brooklyn, and making plans to move to Alex’s hometown in Texas. Beyond that, the author hadn’t revealed any details about their life together after the events of the first book — until now.

McQuiston treated readers to a description of Alex and Henry’s distant future, along with the other couples they’ve written about in their books. In a January 1 Instagram Story, the author confirmed that Alex and Henry are indeed married, which isn’t much of a surprise considering the title of the sequel movie. They’re also girl dads and “still living in Texas practicing law and writing and smashing.”

The author also made sure to note that they envisioned these developments for the characters of the book universe specifically, so there’s no telling if the sequel movie will make Alex and Henry parents or see them living their best lives in Texas. (Though you can read up on everything Swooon knows so far about Red, White & Royal Wedding‘s plot here.)

@casey.mcquiston's Instagram Story describing the futures of all of their characters beyond their books

Last October, McQuiston told Swooon that they thought “a lot about what the future would hold for Alex and Henry of the book” while they were writing the sequel’s script. “For that reason, I don’t think I’ll ever say never to a book sequel,” the author added.
