Who Was in Ashley Tisdale’s Mom Group? A Guide to the Women & Their Husbands
Ashley Tisdale caused quite a stir on January 1 when she published an article for The Cut called “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group.” In the essay, she detailed “dumping her mom group, where the bullying between women mirrored their children’s playground antics.”
While Tisdale did not identify the women she was referring to in the essay, fans quickly speculated that Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, and Meghan Trainor were among the ladies she’d cut ties with. The High School Musical alum was previously featured in photos alongside the women and other Los Angeles moms (including on a trip in August 2022), but does not appear to have spent time with them recently, and no longer follows Duff and Moore on social media.
A rep for Tisdale denied that this group was the subject of The Cut piece, but Duff’s husband, Matthew Koma, fueled the drama when he mocked Tisdale by posting a spoof of her article, which he titled, “When You’re The Most Self Obsessed Tone Deaf Person On Earth, Other Moms Tend To Shift Focus To Their Actual Toddlers.” He has since deleted the post from his Instagram Story.
Despite Tisdale’s denial that Duff et al. were the women she was talking about in her personal essay, Koma’s clapback has fans convinced that there’s some drama happening here, either way. Scroll down to learn more about the women in the group.
Who was in Ashley Tisdale’s ‘toxic’ mom group?
Aside from Duff, Moore, and Trainor, all known for their careers in the entertainment industry, the group supposedly includes Janice Gott, Gaby Dalkin, Kelsey Deenihan, Haylee Davidowitz, Amanda Kaplan, Whitney Wagner Hartley, and Samii Ryan. She was last seen in a group photo with the women in December 2024.
Moore told InStyle in May 2022 that Duff was the one who formed the group after she, Moore, Tisdale, and the others had babies around the same time. “Being the supermom that she is, formed a cool mom club,” Moore shared. “Somehow, I got invited into it, and it’s the best.”

As of publication, Tisdale is not following Dalkin, Hartley, Ryan, Moore, and Duff on Instagram. It’s unclear who she was following before the early 2026 drama.

What did Ashley Tisdale say about her mom group?
Tisdale accused the women in her mom group of leaving her “hurt” and “left out” because she started realizing she wasn’t being invited to hangouts with the group. At first, she thought, “We were all busy, life was hectic. I told myself it was all in my head and it wasn’t a big deal.”
However, after seeing social media photos from three or four meetups that she wasn’t invited to, Tisdale started to feel excluded, she said. She recalled another mom being part of the group in its “early days” and said she remembered noticing a “weird dynamic” because this woman was often left out.
“It seemed that this group had a pattern of leaving someone out,” she claimed. “And that someone had become me. Why me? The truth is, I don’t know and I probably never will.”
She said there was “mean-girl behavior” in the group and urged readers to leave their own mom groups if they were feeling the same way. “Choosing to step away doesn’t make you mean or judgmental,” she explained. “It makes you honest with yourself. It’s also worth remembering that friendships, like all relationships, have seasons.”
