Will ‘Tell Me Lies’ Return for Season 4? The Show’s Fate Revealed
The third season of Tell Me Lies, has been an emotional roller coaster from start to finish. Ahead of the Season 3 finale, fans have been clamoring to find out if Stephen (Jackson White), Lucy (Grace Van Patten), and the rest of the Baird College gang will return to our screens for a fourth season.
Tell Me Lies follows a college friend group bound together by messy hookups, dark secrets, and twisted betrayals. Flipping back and forth between their reunion at Bree (Cat Missal) and Evan’s (Branden Cook) wedding, and their college days, the story centers around Stephen and Lucy’s toxic on-again/off-again relationship.
The show is based on Carola Lovering’s book of the same name. As of Season 2, the show has mostly explored storylines outside the novel.

Will Tell Me Lies return for Season 4?
On the eve of what is now the series finale, showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer revealed that Season 3 would be the final season of Tell Me Lies. She made the announcement via her Instagram account on February 16.
“After three amazing seasons of Tell Me Lies, tonight’s episode will be the series finale. This was always the ending my writing team and I had in mind, and we are insanely proud of it. Your incredible response to this season inspired us to explore whether there was another organic way to continue the story, but ultimately we felt it had reached its natural conclusion,” her statement began.
In an August 2025 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Tom Ellis, who’s married to Oppenheimer and portrays Oliver in the series, explained that Season 3 was set to be the last. He told the outlet, “I think so, yeah. I think Meaghan [Oppenheimer] has written it to be the last season. For sure, yeah.”

Why is Tell Me Lies ending with Season 4?
In her statement, Oppenheimer explained why she and her team decided to end the show with Season 3. “My main goal has always been to protect the quality of the show and give you the best experience I can give you. And so, while it is bittersweet to leave something that has been such a happy experience, I am very grateful that we are able to tell a complete story with an intentional ending – a privilege very few shows get. Thank you for loving our show. We are excited to bring you more stories in the near future,” she wrote.

Ellis wrote in the comments of his wife’s post, “I’m so proud of you my baby. You created an iconic show. I Can’t wait for what’s next.”
Stassi Schroeder, who hosts the Tell Me Lies podcast, wrote, “The most perfect ending that could ever have been written. Your brain is genius.”
