‘Slo Pitch’: Crave’s Lesbian Softball Series Reveals Premiere Date, Trailer & More

What To Know

  • Slo Pitch is an upcoming queer comedy series.
  • The show comes from the Canadian streaming service Crave, which is behind Heated Rivalry.
  • The release date and trailer have been revealed.

If gay sports-centric TV shows are your thing after Heated Rivalry, we need to get Crave’s Slo Pitch on your radar. Not only does it come from the same streamer, but it’s also got some of the rivals element going on. It’s more comedy than romance, though it’s not entirely without the latter. The main character becomes determined to lead her lesbian beer league softball team to victory when her ex joins an opposing team.

The series, which is made by Elliot Page’s PAGEBOY Productions, revealed its first trailer and release date on August 26, shortly before it hits streaming. Keep scrolling for the latest updates on Slo Pitch‘s premiere, cast — which includes a Schitt’s Creek alum — and more.

When is Slo Pitch‘s premiere date?

The series will come out on Crave on September 25, almost a year after filming took place in October 2025.

What is Slo Pitch about?

Based on the short-form series of the same name, Slo Pitch is a mockumentary with 10 half-hour episodes about a queer, underdog slo pitch softball team. The six-time league losers, called The Public Lass Brovaries, are led by their dedicated coach, Joanne Pico. After her girlfriend and co-founder of the team dumps her, Joanne becomes determined to lead her team to victory.

The show follows The Public Lass Brovaries over the course of a summer, with its logline teasing “strikeouts, petty rivalries, conservative-politician sponsors, and sexy carwash fundraisers gone wrong. It’s time to win the breakup, get the gang back together, and maybe even find new love over beers in the dugout.”

Who is in the Slo Pitch cast?

The series stars Frasier and The Boys actress Jess Salgueiro as Joanne. Also in main roles are Karen Knox, Gwenlyn Cumyn, Emma Hunter, and Emily Hampshire. Hampshire, who’s known for Schitt’s Creek, was recently revealed as a Heated Rivalry Season 2 cast member.

She’ll also star in Slo Pitch alongside Nadine Bhabha, who’s known for playing Kip’s (Robbie G.K.) bestie, Elena, in Heated Rivalry. Bhabha is a guest star and writer on the softball comedy.

Beyond Bhabha, Varun Saranga, Laura De Carteret, and Don MacLean Jr. will guest star, along with comedians Carolyn Taylor, Chris Locke, and Chris Sandiford. Japanese softball pitcher Ayami Sato, who is the first woman to play in a Canadian men’s professional baseball league, will also make a cameo.

Behind the scenes, Shaftesbury is producing the series in association with Boss & Co. and PAGEBOY Productions. Slo Pitch was created by J. Stevens, Knox, and Cumyn, and it’s been developed for TV by Katie Ford and Jane Cooper Ford.

Will Slo Pitch be available to stream in the U.S.?

This was the big question everyone had before Heated Rivalry got its U.S. distribution deal with HBO Max. Per a press release, the series is set to be distributed internationally by Shaftesbury, though what streaming service it’ll land on remains to be seen.
