‘Love Is Blind’: Why Did Vic & Christine Not Go to Mexico in Season 10?
What To Know
- Six Love Is Blind Season 10 couples went to Cabo, Mexico, for their post-engagement vacation.
- Christine and Vic were the only ones to go to Malibu, California, instead.
- Christine and Vic documented their trip through self-recorded clips.
Love Is Blind viewers know the drill: A handful of singles date in the pods over the first few episodes without ever seeing the people they’re getting to know. If they get engaged at the end of that stage, the fiancés meet face-to-face, exchange rings, and head off on vacation with all the other pairs. A post-engagement honeymoon, if you will, rather than a post-wedding honeymoon.
The past nine seasons of the reality show have featured a few “honeymoon” locations, but Mexico has been the most common. Season 10 was no exception: Amber and Jordan, Ashley and Alex, Bri and Connor, Jessica and Chris, Emma and Mike, and Devonta and Brittany all gathered in Cabo four weeks before their planned weddings… but one couple was missing.
Christine and Vic were sent to Malibu, California, instead. At Calamigos Ranch, the couple wasn’t followed by a camera crew, so they only captured a few moments on their own camera. Swooon has broken down everything we know about why Christine and Vic didn’t go to Cabo below.
Why did Vic and Christine not go to Mexico?
Netflix hasn’t revealed why Christine and Vic were the only couple out of seven to go to Malibu. Their personal preference or a passport issue could have been the reason, or maybe it had something to do with the budget.
It’s not the first time in Love Is Blind history that a couple who got engaged in the pods didn’t go on vacation. Last time, though, it was because the Love Is Blind team elected not to follow them. It happened in Season 7: “Brittany and Leo were not one of the six couples chosen by producers to continue their journey in Mexico,” a card shown during Episode 7 read. “They took their own trip to Mexico and broke off their engagement weeks later.”
Creator and executive producer Chris Coelen explained the decision to Variety. “We have the budget to follow five couples, and sometimes we stretch to six couples, and we figure out how to stack our crews.”
“When we make that decision as to who to follow, if we have more couples that got engaged, we make a decision as to which couples we think are authentic,” Coelen added. “And when I say authentic, I mean most authentically likely to actually be at the altar and say ‘I do.’ Who is really genuinely on that path?”
Unlike Brittany and Leo, though, Christine and Vic didn’t vanish after Episode 5. The show included a few self-recorded clips from their vacation. Plus, at the end of Episode 6, the couple appears in the preview for the next batch of episodes, confirming their journey isn’t over.
