Kissing Is the Easy Part puts Sean (Asher Angel) and Flora (Paris Berelc) through their paces before they reunite after a year apart. In Tubi’s latest rom-com, Sean loses Flora when she discovers why he started dating her in the first place — because of her scientist parents. They promised to give Sean an MIT recommendation letter and some cash if he dated their daughter and improved her study habits.
While he falls for Flora, Sean almost comes clean a few times, but he doesn’t find the right opportunity. Flora’s ex (Mark Ballantyne) beats Sean to the punch — almost immediately after Sean and Flora exchange I love yous and sleep together. “He told her pretty late in the game,” Angel told Swooon in a joint interview with Berelc. “He’s already telling her he loves her. I mean, he’s fully invested in this girl.”

Betrayed, Flora immediately ends things with Sean when she finds out about the deal. On whether or not they could’ve worked things out if Sean told Flora earlier, Angel said that “it’d probably be easier [for Flora] to get rid of him” if he had spoken up sooner.
Berelc chimed in, “Yeah, I think she would have been pissed still, but it wouldn’t have been as bad because feelings weren’t quite there yet. [Flora] would just be pissed at [her] parents. I think it would have been different if he said something like that week.”
Sean tears up the recommendation letter and returns the money before going all the way with Flora. “It’s definitely good that he gave it all back before he you know ’cause that would have been really f***ked up. Does it make it better [that Sean ended the deal beforehand]? I guess, but it’s still sucky.”
“Not the nicest thing to do,” Angel added.
Angel, who considers himself Sean’s “number one advocate,” said that his character learns from his mistakes. In the movie’s year flash-forward, Sean and Flora catch up and kiss. “I think she invites him to the beach because she has forgiven him,” Berelc explained. “And then also seeing him and hearing how MIT has been and him accepting the fact that change is inevitable, as we say in the movie, that makes her realize like, ‘Oh wow, he’s changed, and he’s grown, and I love him.'”
