Emma told Swooon, “The engagement was such an easy yes for me. Knowing that kids were involved, I knew that there was going to be Cabo-time [and] Columbus-time to talk through and figure that out as we learned more about each other.” That being said, she did confess, “I did continue to have those hesitancies, in the back of my mind.”

During the most recent drop of episodes, Emma and Mike met each other’s families and shared some candid conversations about their mismatched desires for kids. When Mike met Emma’s family, they made it clear that she had been a firm “no” on kids for quite some time. Now that she’s engaged to Mike, she’s more open to considering their options.
While fans have questioned why Emma and Mike would get engaged without actually knowing they wanted to head down the aisle together, Emma explained her thought process during an interview with Swooon. She shared, “[During the engagement] we can continue to talk about it, and then hopefully our love grows. I have always said, ‘If he’s the right partner, I would have kids.’ I wanted to see if he could be the right partner as we continued our journey together.”

Emma and Mike got engaged during Season 10, Episode 5 of Love Is Blind, soon after Devonta Anderson and Brittany Wicker met for the first time face-to-face. Ahead of Mike’s proposal, Emma told him, “I thought I knew what I was looking for coming into this journey. I needed a strong, confident man who made me laugh, felt secure and stable, and was sure of himself. What I didn’t know was I would find so much more.”
Mike responded, “I have never been this open with anyone else before. Talking to you, I feel safe. I feel secure. I don’t feel judged. I feel like you actually listen to me.” He then asked, “Emma Lee Lou Betsinger, will you marry me?” Crying, Emma answered, “A million times yes.”
