Love Is Blind‘s Alex Henderson and Ashley Carpenter are still preparing for their wedding just ahead of the Season 10 finale, but it hasn’t been an entirely smooth journey. When the couple returned to their day-to-day lives in Ohio, Alex and Ashley met up with the rest of their castmates at a bowling alley. Priyanka Grandhi was one of them, and she knows Alex from outside the experiment.
As Alex explained in an earlier episode, he and Priyanka were in the same friend group when they lived in Chicago. When they reunited at the get-together, which took place in Episodes 9 and 10, Priyanka revealed that she didn’t just know Alex from the Windy City — she also ran into him in Austin, Texas. When she sat down with Alex and his fiancée, Priyanka explained that she thought Alex had moved to Austin, which was news to Ashley.

What happened with Alex Henderson and his ex-girlfriend in Austin?
Bear with us. During the gathering, Alex said he spent time in Austin for a “little bit,” moving between there and Cleveland. “I was trying to figure out where my lease was gonna be, and I did want a place down there realistically,” he said. He later added that he hasn’t had a home base for four years.
Making matters more complicated is that Alex’s ex-girlfriend was living in Austin at the time. Alex was staying at his ex’s place “while she was on assignment.” Both Priyanka and Ashley thought that meant the ex was on assignment somewhere else, but she was on assignment in Austin.
“She’s a travel nurse that was living there, working there, for a few months at a time,” Alex clarified. “I stayed at her place and then went to the F1 [race] with her. It made sense for me at that point because I wasn’t in a relationship or had met either… I’d met you before [Priyanka], but I hadn’t met you.”
Ashley knew that Alex visited his ex for the F1 race, but she didn’t know they were fully living together at one point. Further, Ashley was under the impression that Alex had been living solely in Cleveland for a year and a half. Apparently, he also flew in — presumably right before the pods — from Austin. Alex told Ashley that he’d flown in from Cleveland. “It was easier for me to explain it that way without having to go through the entire process of, ‘Yes, I flew back and forth between Austin and Cleveland.'”
When Ashley asked why he wouldn’t tell her that, Alex said, “Because you would have a billion questions that I wouldn’t feel like answering because they’re not relevant to this entire process.”
Alex said that his ex is currently living in Florida with her boyfriend. Later that night, he told Ashley that “there’s no tie at all” between him and his ex, whom he hasn’t contacted in the two weeks since they left the pods. Ashley wondered if Alex would text his ex immediately if their engagement ended, and Alex denied it. “She has somebody that she’s happy with,” he assured Ashley. “I’m very happy for her. She’s happy for me.”
In the end, Ashley accepted his answer, and they smoothed things over with some McDonald’s chicken nuggets.
