All eyes are back on Charleston, South Carolina, once again, as Southern Hospitality returns for its highly anticipated fourth season. The end of Season 3 was filled with chaos and shocking revelations, but Maddi Reese and Joe Bradley have emerged stronger than ever.

The couple spoke with Swooon about navigating their relationship as it enters a new chapter in Season 4. Maddi and Joe also discussed their “next steps” and how Maddi felt about Joe seeing her at her “lowest” point over the last year.

Joe admitted that Season 4 will show that “the honeymoon phase” of their relationship is over. “It’s setting in that we’re in a real relationship, and we’re exploring what our next steps are.” One of those next steps? An adorable puppy.

In 2026, Maddi noted that she and Joe are actively “planning our future” in a way they weren’t before. “When we met, we were two young kids that were just living day by day. We were club rats, very reckless. And now it’s like, we’re older, and we’re planning out our futures and things that we necessarily didn’t think about before. You’ll see that a lot this season, of us talking about our next steps, about potentially living together, and what that timeline looks like for us. I also think it’s a transitional year because he’s trying to figure out what he wants to do with his life.”

Joe admitted that turning 30 this year kicked him into a different gear, and Southern Hospitality Season 4 will be a “coming-of-age chapter” for him.

The fourth season will also dive into the fallout of the bombshell Southern Hospitality Season 3 reunion. Following Will Kulp‘s infamous hot mic moment, Emmy Sharrett told an emotional Maddi at the reunion that her ex, Trevor Stokes, never cheated on her, and that Brad Carter had made it up. The revelation left Maddi stunned and questioning who she could really trust in her life.

One person she knew she could rely on? Joe.

“Joe had to see me in a way… It’s going to make me emotional, but Joe had to see me in a really dark place. I think Joe has always seen me as this strong, badass b*tch. I think that’s maybe something he’s learned about me this year, that I’m not as strong a b*tch as I come off to be sometimes.”

She added, “I feel like he saw me at my lowest, at my sickest. They say ‘through sickness and health,’ you know? I definitely feel like we kind of went through that last year.” Joe followed up with, “We had to see the light in these situations, or else you’re just going to end up resenting someone. Even though she wasn’t her best, we have a stronger partnership from it.”

He continued, “From the ashes of that came something like stronger and more beautiful.”
