But, before viewers got the chance to meet her long-distance boyfriend, Birkan Kuzoren, we were introduced to her pickleball partner and off-the-court bestie, Michal. While the two share an unparalleled connection and Michal appears to be a strong contender for Laura’s heart, she made it clear that she is in love with Birkan.

Who is Michal on Before the 90 Days?
Michal is Laura’s best friend on Before the 90 Days. He does not have an active presence on social media, so we don’t know much about the pickleball player, other than what TLC and Laura have shared. During an early episode of Season 8, Laura confessed, “Everyone who has seen Michal and me interact would assume that we are either dating or are married. And even though things have been confusing between us at times, he really is just my best friend.”

That being said, Laura has made it clear that she believes Michal does have feelings for her, which he has not denied. She told viewers, “I think my best friend has feelings for me that are more than just friendship.” Later, while talking about Birkan, Michal admitted, “I can’t compete with 6’1” [and] hot.”
What happened to Michal’s nose?
Michal has a unique nose shape, which has caused many to ask Laura during her Instagram Q&As “What happened to Michal’s nose?” According to Laura, “He was born with a cleft lip and a cleft palate,” which is a common birth defect.
How did Laura and Michal meet?
Laura revealed towards the beginning of the season that she met Michal throught their mutual love for pickleball. Laura shared, “I first met Michal playing pickleball at a local park. We clicked instantly and also just cleaned up on the court.” After that, she revealed, “The more Michal and I started hanging out, we just realized we had a ton in common.”

Have Laura and Michal ever dated?
It’s currently unclear whether Laura and Michal have ever dated; however, during the midseason preview, Michal revealed that he’s not the only one who’s harbored romantic feelings. He can be seen telling Birkan, “She made a move on me. One that you do not misunderstand.”
Why is Michal visiting Laura and Birkan in Turkey?
During Season 8, Episode 11, Laura called Michal to ask his advice about Birkan’s gambling habits. While Laura did not ask Michal to come scope out the situation himself, he’s decided to do just that. The catch? Apparently, nobody warned Birkan before he bought the ticket. In the newest preview for Episode 13, Birkan can be seen asking, “Michal? He’s coming? Without asking? Without telling anything?”
“He cares about me and said he wants to protect me from making a bad decision,” Laura confessed to Birkan. “I told him, you know, that I would think about him coming. But I woke up this morning to a bunch of texts from him saying that he already booked a flight.”
