It does not define me, and yes, I am seeking love.” After three seasons of searching, James connected with Shelley, whom he invited to his birthday party. On April 6, 2025, James confirmed that he and Shelley had made things official after the third season. He wrote, “I have finally found true love! I love [Shelley] very much, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about her; she is so wonderful and amazing, and I am so glad that she and I have found each other! Shelley and I have much in common, but we also compliment each other, we each inspire the other to be better, and, having said that, I can admit that I have made some mistakes in our relationship, but I am learning, and I am making my best effort to be a loving and caring boyfriend for her.”
How did James and Shelley meet?
James and Shelley met online. He told producer Cian O’Clery, “She’s someone totally new… Isn’t life full of surprises?” James met Shelley for the first time IRL at his birthday party. He told his friends before she arrived that things were going “very well,” joking, “I definitely think I may have a winner this time,” while saving a seat for her at the fire pit right next to him. He explained, “We have very similar tastes and preferences in movies, music, [and] books.”
During Season 3, Episode 7, the two got to know each other better. There, he confessed that he is not much of a pet person. Then, he took her hands, telling her, “I definitely feel a very strong emotional connection. I do think we have much in common.” Ultimately, the two shared a kiss and decided to call each other boyfriend and girlfriend officially.

Yes, James and Shelley are both returning as main cast members for Season 4 of Love on the Spectrum. In the trailer for the season, James’ dad is seen talking to James, Shelley, and his mom, saying, “The most important thing in their lives right now is to get away from me!”
James and Shelley can also be seen in front of a beautiful church. There, James tells Shelley, “Seeing you in front of this church is making me think…” Later, a ring is shown! Could this mean James and Shelley, or one of the other fan-favorite couples, is getting engaged? Only time will tell!
