After making an appearance in the final episode of the highly anticipated season, the couple revealed a shocking relationship update.
Abbey Romeo joined the cast of Love on the Spectrum during Season 1. The hit Netflix series follows adults on the autism spectrum looking for love. Early in the first season, Abbey met David, and the two instantly connected. Since then, both have been series regulars — until now.
On March 17, Netflix announced that Love on the Spectrum would return for its fourth season, featuring returning couples and three new singles. While Abbey and David were seen in the trailer (more on that below!), neither of them was listed as a main cast member for the season.

Are Abbey and David from Love on the Spectrum still together?
While Abbey and David were still going strong during the Season 4 finale, the couple revealed a week after the premiere that they had split. In a joint statement, the couple and their families revealed to People, “Abbey and David spent four and a half years together and truly value the time they shared and each other. At this point, they want different things and have decided to go their separate ways, but they remain friends wishing each other the best.”
After Season 3, Abbey and David kept fans posted on their relationship through social media and many on-screen appearances, including Abbey’s performance of her song “Boyfriend Forever,” dedicated to David, on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

On March 23, Abbey attended the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special premiere, where she got to meet Miley Cyrus herself! Of course, Miley shared that she is a big fan of Love on the Spectrum and has absolutely watched Abbey and David’s journey. When did Abbey and David meet?
Abbey and David went on their first date during Season 1 of Love on the Spectrum. The two met at a wildlife learning center, where they bonded over their shared love for In-N-Out Burger, animals (especially lions), and Disney movies. They also got to meet a massive owl, a fennec fox, and a sloth on their date, which made the whole experience even better! However, the best part of their date was when David gave Abbey a flamingo bracelet he bought for her in San Clemente.
Are Abbey and David in Season 4 of Love on the Spectrum?
While Abbey and David are not part of the main Season 4 cast of Love on the Spectrum, Abbey posted the Season 4 trailer on her Instagram page, writing, “It’s baaaaack! Love on The Spectrum premieres April 1 ✨.” In the trailer, the couple can be seen entering a party with other franchise alumni. Later, Abbey can be seen saying, “What if he gives me a ring?”

Are Abbey and David engaged?
No, Abbey and David are not engaged as of April 2026. During the preview for Love on the Spectrum Season 4, Abbey mentions a ring, so naturally, we couldn’t help but wonder if the two would be the first Love on the Spectrum U.S. couple to get engaged; however, now it is clear that Abbey was talking about future plans, inspired by Madison Marilla and Tyler White’s engagement.
