’13 Going on 30′ Reboot: All About Emily Bader & Logan Lerman’s Upcoming Rom-Com
13 Going on 30 fans, it’s time to be “thirty, flirty, and thriving” all over again!
On March 24, Deadline announced that a reboot of the beloved Jennifer Garner rom-com 13 Going on 30 is in the works at Netflix, with two major book-to-screen actors stepping into the lead roles. After his recent romance, People We Meet on Vacation, Brett Haley is stepping into the director’s chair. While plot details for the reboot are “under wraps,” we’re thrilled to see what Haley has in store.
He told Deadline, “13 Going on 30 is one of those rare, perfect films. Funny, emotional, deeply human, with unforgettable performances from Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo, and Judy Greer. I’m a longtime fan, so stepping into this reimagining comes with tremendous responsibility.”

Who’s been cast in the 13 Going on 30 reboot?
The 13 Going on 30 reboot will feature Emily Bader, known for People We Meet on Vacation and My Lady Jane, and Logan Lerman, known for Oh, Hi! and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. While Garner is not set to return as Jenna Rink (or another character) in the reboot, she has joined the project as an executive producer. It is currently unclear whether Ruffalo will be attached to the project or not.
“Jennifer Garner being on board as an executive producer, after playing such a big part of what made the original special, is especially meaningful,” Haley revealed. “I also couldn’t be more excited to reunite with Emily Bader after People We Meet on Vacation. She and the amazingly talented Logan Lerman are a magical pairing. I feel incredibly lucky to be trusted with something that means so much to so many people.”
What will the 13 Going on 30 reboot be about?
Right now, the plot for the 13 Going on 30 reboot has not been revealed. However, the term “reboot” gives us a bit of an indication as to how the plot will align with the original. Unlike a sequel, a reboot has a completely unrelated storyline with the same title. Unlike recent sequels like Freakier Friday or The Devil Wears Prada 2, 13 Going on 30 is not likely to follow the same characters at any point in their lives. Instead, we’d imagine a similar storyline, in which a 13-year-old magically becomes 30, with different characters.
When will the 13 Going on 30 reboot come out?
Currently, there is no release date set for the 13 Going on 30 reboot, but with both leads attached and a script penned, production can start any minute. Bader is currently filming The 99’ers for Netflix, so she’ll likely shift to filming 13 Going On 30 after. For that reason, we’d guess that the movie will hit Netflix in 2027 or 2028.
