‘XO, Kitty’: Does Yuri Have Feelings for Kitty? Fans React to Star’s Surprising Take
What To Know
- In XO, Kitty Season 2, Kitty and Yuri kiss, ending Yuri’s relationship with Juliana, but Yuri rejects Kitty.
- Gia Kim, who plays Yuri, confirmed if Yuri returns Kitty’s romantic feelings ahead of Season 3.
- The fandom remains divided over who Kitty should end up with between Yuri and Min Ho.
Say what you will about Kitty (Anna Cathcart), but her love life is far from boring. Over the past two seasons of XO, Kitty, Netflix’s spinoff of Jenny Han‘s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series, the younger Covey sister has had numerous love interests at her Korean boarding school, forming love… squares? Pentagons? The exact shape is up for debate, but Yuri (Gia Kim) is involved in all of them.
At the end of Season 1, Kitty realizes that she has feelings for her KISS classmate. She doesn’t act on them until Season 2, when Yuri is dating Juliana (Regan Aliyah). It doesn’t stop Yuri and Kitty from sharing a kiss, leading Juliana to end things with her girlfriend. Yuri, however, is still in love with Juliana, so she friend-zones Kitty. It all begs the question: Does Yuri have any feelings for Kitty going into Season 3? Kim addressed the question when recapping Season 2 alongside the rest of the cast.
In the video, Cathcart mentions the kiss between her character and Yuri, and Kim adds, “Yuri doesn’t have feelings back, and the kiss kind of ruins Yuri’s relationship with her own girlfriend, Juliana.”

That particular soundbite got plenty of fans talking ahead of Season 3, which drops on April 2. Some social media users weren’t surprised and saw it as fuel for the Mooncovey fire. Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee) declares his feelings for Kitty at the end of Season 1 and spends the following season in unrequited love. Kitty only realizes that she feels the same way at the end of Season 2, which ends on a cliffhanger. Kitty hasn’t yet told Min Ho about her change of heart, but she does ask to spend the summer with him.
One fan believes that the show hasn’t ever been pushing the Kittyuri agenda. “I never understood why in this series so many people wanted her to end up with Yuri, when Yuri never felt with the same intensity what Kitty felt for her. Even on many occasions the series makes it clear, and even more so in the last season. For Yuri it was always Juliana, not Kitty,” the fan wrote.
On the flip side, some responded to the “Yuri doesn’t have feelings back” comment to defend the Kittyuri ship. “The way they’ve rewritten the entire series to make it seem like minho is the protagonist when kitty spends 80% of the series crushing on yuri,” says one X post with over 2,000 likes.
Who Kitty should end up with has been a long-running debate in the fandom, so we want to know your take: Do you think Kitty and Yuri still have potential, even if Yuri doesn’t yet have a romantic interest in Kitty? Let us know in the comments below!
