What To Know

  • ABC canceled Season 22 of The Bachelorette following the release of footage from Taylor Frankie Paul’s 2023 domestic violence incident.
  • Despite the cancellation, HGTV’s Bachelor Mansion Takeover featured mention of The Bachelorette during its latest episode.
  • Part of the show’s premise is that renovations on the Bachelor Mansion needed to be completed before The Bachelorette Season 22 began filming.

Taylor Frankie Paul‘s season of The Bachelorette may have been canceled, but another Bachelor Nation series has continued to air.

Just one day after The Bachelorette was supposed to air its Season 22 premiere, HGTV’s Bachelor Mansion Takeover returned with a new episode on Monday, March 23. The series, which premiered earlier this month, follows 12 Bachelor Nation stars as they renovate the franchise’s iconic mansion room-by-room until one contestant is left standing and takes home a $100,000 prize.

Prior to Monday’s episode, ABC announced that Season 22 of The Bachelorette had been canceled in the wake of Taylor’s ongoing domestic violence scandal. The Bachelorette has played a minor role on Bachelor Mansion Takeover, as part of the show’s premise is that renovations on the home needed to be completed before The Bachelorette Season 22 began filming.

Given the connection between the two shows, some fans may have wondered whether Bachelor Mansion Takeover would remove mention of The Bachelorette‘s now-canceled season from its remaining episodes. However, Monday’s latest episode did feature a mention of The Bachelorette during a recap of the previous week’s episode.

“We’ve got less than two weeks before the next season of The Bachelorette moves into this mansion,” host Jesse Palmer said while recapping the show’s March 16 episode. The Bachelorette was not mentioned during the rest of Monday’s broadcast.

'Bachelor Mansion Takeover' Season 1 cast, HGTV, premieres March 2, 2026, (L to R) Sandra Mason, Jeremy Simon, Brendan Morais, Tammy Ly, Joan Vassos, Courtney Robertson Preciado, Chrisopher Stallworth, Noah Erb, Dean Bell, Jill Chin, Allyshia Gupta, and Sam McKinney.

The show’s fourth episode saw the remaining contestants split into two teams to renovate the mixer room. The girls’ team — consisting of Joan Vassos, Allyshia Gupta, and Courtney Robertson Preciado — ultimately lost to Dean Bell, Noah Erb, and Sam McKinney. While Joan and Allyshia were sent home, Courtney was granted an extra shot at reaching the finale by judges Tayshia Adams and Tyler Cameron.

ABC announced The Bachelorette‘s cancellation in a March 19 statement, sharing, “In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family.”

The video in question was of Taylor’s 2023 domestic violence incident with her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, which leaked online on March 19. The footage featured Taylor throwing chairs at Dakota while one of her children was in the room. She faced charges of assault, criminal mischief, and commission of domestic violence in the presence of a minor, but was only charged with aggravated assault after entering a plea deal.

Before the video’s release, reports broke that Taylor and Dakota were involved in another domestic violence dispute, and that Dakota had called the Utah Division of Child and Family Services on her, among other claims.

Taylor reacted to the cancellation drama in a statement released via her spokesperson, reading in part, “Taylor is very grateful for ABC’s support as she prioritizes her family’s safety and security. After years of silently suffering extensive mental and physical abuse as well as threats of retaliation, Taylor is finally gaining the strength to face her accuser and taking steps to ensure that she and her children are protected from any further harm. There are too many women who are suffering in silence as they survive aggressive, jealous ex-partners who refuse to let them move on with their lives.”
