Troy Landry has been a main cast member on Swamp People since the show’s very first season in 2010. While the show mostly focuses on the stars’ lives as alligator hunters, viewers have also gotten a look behind the curtains at their personal lives.

For Troy, that includes his wife, Bernita Landry, whom he’s been married to for nearly 50 years, and their kids. Scroll down to learn more about the History Channel star’s relationship and family.

Is Troy Landry still married?

Yes, Troy and Bernita are still married. They celebrated 44 years of marriage in 2025, having tied the knot on September 26, 1981. Unfortunately, this means that Troy is often not around to celebrate the pair’s wedding day, as it falls right in the middle of hunting season.

Troy and Bernita met at his cousin’s wedding, as revealed on the Friends ‘n Mimosas YouTube channel.

Who is Bernita Landry?

Since Bernita is not often featured on Swamp People and mostly maintains a private life, little is known about her. She is from Louisiana and used to work as a schoolteacher.

Troy also revealed during the Friends ‘n Mimosas interview that his wife is diabetic.

Does Troy Landry have kids?

Yes, Troy shares two children with Bernita: sons Chase Landry and Jacob Landry. He is also a father figure to his stepson, Brandon Hotard, from Bernita’s previous relationship.

The couple also has five grandchildren through their kids. In February 2025, the family opened up about health issues Brandon’s son Crue was facing. Troy revealed that Crue was born with a liver disease called Biliary Atresia, which ended up progressing into end-stage liver disease, requiring a liver transplant. The child was put on a donor list and finally received his transplant in June 2025.

Chase and Jacob are regulars on Swamp People, while Brandon also previously appeared on the show for Seasons 4 to 6.
