‘Welcome to Plathville’: Are Ethan Plath & Teegan Nichols Still Together?
Welcome to Plathville returns on March 31, which will give us a much-needed update on the Plath family. From the Season 8 trailer, it seems that Lydia Plath‘s drama with her family will dominate the upcoming episodes, but fans also want to learn more about what’s going on in Ethan Plath‘s life.
For the first several seasons of the family’s TLC show, Ethan was married to wife Olivia Plath, but they separated in 2023 and filed for divorce in February 2024. Shortly after the split, he began dating single mom Teegan Nichols, going public with their relationship on Instagram in January 2025.
“Proud to introduce my sweet girlfriend!” Ethan captioned his now-deleted post. “She truly is one of the sweetest, kindest, and patient people I’ve ever known! Looking forward to the next year and what it has to bring. Wishing everyone a very happy new year! Here we go 2025!”

Are Ethan Plath and Teegan Nichols still together?
The exact status of Ethan and Teegan’s relationship is unclear, but they no longer appear to be together. They deleted all traces of each other on Instagram in August 2025 and stopped following each other on the social media site. (Ethan now seems to have deleted his page entirely.)
While Teegan did pop up in one quick scene with Ethan in the Welcome to Plathville Season 8 trailer, that was likely filmed before the apparent fallout. Fans on Reddit have speculated that Ethan was allegedly unfaithful to Teegan in a cheating scandal involving one of her friends, but that has not been verified.
Rumors about their apparent split came amid reports that they had gotten engaged while they were together, but neither Ethan or Teegan ever confirmed the engagement speculation.
How did Ethan Plath and Teegan Nichols meet?
Ethan and Teegan met on Instagram. They revealed their origin story during Teegan’s debut Welcome to Plathville episode in September 2025.
“I had posted a picture of me and my motorcycle and she, I guess, commented back, ‘It’s a nice motorcycle.'” Ethan shared. “I looked at her profile and I was like, ‘Oh, dang. Like, it is a very nice motorcycle.’” Meanwhile, Teegan admitted, “I was jumping up and down because I really thought I’d never hear from you.”
At the time, Ethan was fairly newly single following his split from Olivia in 2023. He said he had gone on a “couple of dates” before meeting Teegan, but nothing panned out since he was still “hung up” on his ex. “And then out of the blue, I found the one,” he added.
What happened between Ethan and Olivia Plath?
Olivia announced her separation from Ethan in October 2023 after five years of marriage. “Ethan and I have decided to go our separate ways,” she wrote on social media at the time. “I have ambivalent memories of us being 18 years old, innocently dreaming of forever – but the partner you choose is a reflection of the world you want to live in, and at 18 I didn’t know who I was or what kind of life I wanted to create for myself. 7 years later, I’ve already begun my journey of questioning, deconstructing and rebuilding and I know that is a process that I will continue to prioritize throughout my life.”
In his own statement, Ethan added, “Olivia and I have parted ways. It just didn’t work between us, though Lord knows we both gave it all we had. It seemed we were constantly pulling each other in opposite directions in life with different goals.”
Olivia’s main issues involved Ethan’s conservative family and controlling mother, Kim Plath. “It was just, like, a pattern that she tried to make a lot of decisions for me,” Olivia told Us Weekly. “And I was fresh out of my parents’ house and figuring out who I was, and I didn’t want decisions made for me.”
There were also issues over where to live, although the former couple did end up moving out of Ethan’s small Georgia town after Olivia requested a life in the city (they relocated to Tampa, then Minnesota). However, as time went on, the two realized they were not as compatible as they initially thought.
During a Season 5 episode, Ethan said that he and his then-wife were “on opposite ends of the book” when it came to “political beliefs [and] religious beliefs.”
In April 2025, Olivia revealed that her and Ethan’s divorce was not finalized because he didn’t fill out the divorce papers directly. She claimed he blocked her on social media, and she was unable to reach out to him to fix the issue. It’s unclear whether the divorce has been finalized since then.
