How Old Are the 8 Bridgerton Siblings in the Show? A Guide to Their Ages
What To Know
- The ages of the Bridgerton siblings in the Netflix series differ from the original books, with the show altering timelines.
- There will be a two-year time jump between Seasons 4 and 5.
- Season 5 production is now underway.
Bridgerton‘s timeline is a tricky thing. In Julia Quinn’s book series of the same name, it’s a bit easier to keep track of when each Bridgerton sibling falls in love — and how old they are when it happens. The Netflix adaptation hasn’t stuck to its source material exactly, as fans are well aware of by now. Not only are they overlapping the events of the books, but the streamer also switched the order of them, having Colin’s (Luke Newton) season come before Benedict’s (Luke Thompson).
Now, we know that the timeline’s about to get even more complicated with a two-year time jump between Seasons 4 and 5. It begs the question: How old are all the Bridgerton siblings? In the Regency era, women entered the marriage mart at around 18 years old. They were deemed spinsters when they reached 24. Will Eloise (Claudia Jessie) have acquired spinster status yet in Season 5? And will Hyacinth (Florence Hunt) be old enough to debut, for that matter? Swooon is breaking down everything we know about the Bridgertons’ ages, based on where we’re at in the storyline.

Netflix
Anthony Bridgerton
Thankfully, we do have the script to consult, which reveals how old all of the Bridgerton siblings are when we first meet them. Anthony, the eldest, is 28. The show begins in 1813, as Julie Andrews‘ Lady Whistledown voiceover tells us in the pilot episode. Each season takes place during a new courting season, so Anthony is likely 29 when he marries Kate (Simone Ashley) in Season 2, depending on when his birthday falls. In case you were wondering, Kate is 26 in Season 2.
Before Season 5, every season has been spaced out by roughly a year. So, with the two-year time jump, Anthony and Kate will be around 34 and 31 years old.

Benedict Bridgerton
Benedict puts off marriage for quite a while — he’s 30 years old when he falls in love with Sophie (Yerin Ha) in Season 4. Back when we first met the second-oldest Bridgerton son in Season 1, he was 26 years old. Sophie’s age isn’t revealed in the show, but in the books, she’s 22. We’d expect her to be around 24 or 25 in Season 5, while Benedict will be around 32 years old.

Colin Bridgerton
Colin is 19 years old at the very beginning of the show, but we find out he’s 21 in the Season 2 finale. He’s around 22 or 23 when he takes the lead in Season 3. His future wife, Penelope, is 17 in the pilot episode. (That’s right: She’s already become a successful columnist as a teenager!) She’s about 20 in Season 3. So, Colin and Penelope will appear in Season 5 when they’re approximately 25 and 23.

Daphne Bridgerton
Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) is named the Diamond of the Season when she’s just 18 years old, and her love interest, Simon (Rege-Jean Page), is 28. (Kind of a problematic age gap, if you ask us, but we’re going to try to ignore it.) We aren’t sure yet if Daphne and her Duke will appear in Season 5 after their long absences, but they’d be about 23 and 33 in the show’s timeline.

Netflix
Eloise Bridgerton
The outspoken Eloise is only 17 when she watches Daphne enter the Marriage Mart, and she debuts herself a year later in Season 2. Eloise has decided to remain “on the shelf” in Season 4, but she’s not quite at official spinster age yet. She’ll be around 22 years old in Season 5. (By the time her season rolls around, though, she may have aged out of the Marriage Mart. It all depends on how much time passes!)

Netflix
Francesca Bridgerton
Fun fact: In the books, Francesca (Hannah Dodd) and Eloise share a birthday exactly one year apart. That makes Francesca (played by Ruby Stokes in Seasons 1 and 2) 16 years old at the start of the story. She’s about 18 years old when she debuts and marries John (Victor Alli) in Season 3.
When she takes the lead in Season 5 alongside her love interest, Michaela (Masali Baduza), Francesca will be 21. Michaela’s age hasn’t been revealed, but we do know that she was close to John growing up. We don’t know John’s age, either, but we’re guessing Michaela will be in her mid-20s in Season 5.

Netflix
Gregory Bridgerton
The second youngest Bridgerton, who spends most of Season 4 off at boarding school, is 12 years old in Season 1. Gregory (Will Tilston) will be about 17 years old when we next see him in Season 5.

Netflix
Hyacinth Bridgerton
Last but not least is Hyacinth, who spends most of Season 4 looking forward to her debut. She’s still not old enough yet, of course. Hyacinth is 10 years old in Season 1, putting her around 14 in Season 4. With the two-year time jump, she’ll be 16-ish at the start of Season 5. Depending on how much time passes in Season 5, though, she could enter society.
After all, showrunner Jess Brownell teased the youngest Bridgerton’s next step when we asked her about Season 5. She told Swooon that “we’re fortunate that we still have Hyacinth’s debut ahead of us, and I think she is quite keen to debut sooner rather than later. It might not be immediately, but I think we will always find ways to bring the story back to Mayfair and to the balls and to the marriage mart.”
